I still can't believe that at 30, they wanted to give Kirk a promotion to Vice-Admiral.
That was odd. I mean he made captain right out of the Academy. Heck, if I was Harry Kim, I would want to live in this universe because he wouldn't have to be Ensign very long

By the way, who was the actress who seemed to be the head of the Yorktown. It really could have been Kate Mulgrew, but she was so familiar.

I just saw Star Trek: Beyond, and loved it! The film was such a fitting tribute to the original series! In the previous two movies, I was originally iffy about Chris Pine's performance as Kirk at times in the previous movies, but his performance was great in this one - the writers wrote him more mature, and I can finally see him as the commanding presence - He is Captain Kirk! Great writing and performances - loved it!

A fantastic movie! The comedy was strong, the action was intense, the story was impressive and the characters were spot on.

I can't wait to go again!

I'd love to see Sulu getting his own ship in the next movie, but he is only a Lieutenant ... on the other hand, people seem to be promoted very quickly in the Kelvin Timeline ... :D
they were talking about a new ship being built at Yorktown, possibly that could have ended up being the Enterprise A, but when it was first mentioned I thought it might be the Excelsior, then I realised its too soon in the timeline for that.

Of course if we use that logic, we have to wonder where that hologram tec came from, to hide the Franklin, and after that we just get into nit-picking.

I liked it. A- (due to the weakness of the Krall backstory, which, however, is poignant considering how we still have difficulties re-integrating our veterans back into civilian life at times). Will go see it again. Also: I liked that in the future, Hip Hop is considered to be "Classical Music". ;-)

A lot of action, a lot of funny, a lot of Star Trekyness, but not much else.

In what seems like a vigorous attempt by Lin and Pegg to prove what big Star Trek fans they are, they maliciously fashion together a beautiful wrapping with all the bows and trimmings: A true ode to 50 years of boldly going. Unfortunately, someone forgot to put a film in the box.
