Would you give your child a trekkie name?

Yeah, I'd name a child after a Trek character. Depends on the name, though. There are quite a few cult-tv names I like, Connor (from Highlander) being a favourite.

I know someone whose husband insisted their baby boy's middle name be "Danger"--so little Christian (Chris) can say "Danger is my middle name."

Honest.

I was thinking about this when reading another thread on here.
The trek names (distinctly trek names) I would seriously consider giving my children are

~Girls~
Jadzia
Kes
Seven (also in a nod to some other tv shows...)
Deanna

~Boys~
....
None I can think of

Seven? Come on man, don't do that to your child. Is your wife down with that?

Although, if we get a girl, The wife is all for naming her alora ;)

We thought it over, George, and we're going to name our daughter Seven.

Go for it Nick, I would do it too.

Seven is an awesome number. Its mentioned numerously in the Bible, it stands for the devine soul, its a mystical number with connections to the metaphysical circles, it can't be devided, it is also a beautiful looking star (with points at the bottom) and means justice.

There are seven colours in the rainbow, seven layers of the aura, seven major chakras (with 21 minor chakras), seven major notes in music, seven levels of Heaven. There is also a seven petaled Lotus in the Budhist religion. There are seven areas of life (family, relationships, work, health, happiness, children, spiritual).
It occurs a lot all over the world.

Not really. All Trekkie names would stand out too much where I live, i.e. be obviously of foreign origin. With the single exception of Annika (I'm from Finland, but Swedish is my first language). My son's name's Marcus Allan, but that doesn't mean he's named for two Babylon 5 characters (Marcus Cole & Zach Allan). My husband and I only thought of the B5 connection after his name was officially his.

My kids don't have Star Trek names, but I used to work with a transgendered lady who chose "Ezri" has her middle name. DS9 was her favorite of the series.

If I had kids, I would probably go with these Trek names
Girls:
Jadzia
Emony
Kira
Nerys

Boys:
Benjamin
Jake
Elim
Miles

^I hear bunches of grandkids are a lot more bearable than bunches of your own kids! You could call it Randovia! You could feature a Tribble on your coat of arms!

Nope. Wouldn't do it.

Second child, if/when he/she comes, we've already got names picked out. If it's a boy, Benjamin is our front runner right now. And while you all may think DS9, that's the furthest thing from my mind (since I'm not a DS9 fan).

 I hearby submit a request to open diplomatic relations with the sovereign state of Randovia.

I'm in!

Both of you are accepted. Mine will be a tax free nation, but everybody must bring me vanilla ice cream daily.

The name Randovia is a good one. The captial city will be called Randyland.
