Wost TNG film?

Which TNG film is the worst?

I still think Nemesis, though not classic, is a bit underrated. I went with "Insurrection" - even though I like F. Murray Abraham, I found most of this movie to be pretty bad. The whole Data Learns To Play thing was embarrassing, the humor was usually really corny, the plot really did feel like a so-so TNG two-parter. Nemesis at least had some decent space battlery and nice effects, and (although he didn't look anything like Picard) I did kind of like the Shinzon character. There were good moments. Insurrection was just bland.

That said, it pains me that anyone would vote for FC, but to each their own I guess.:confused::confused:

I honestly can't understand why people like First Contact. As far as the three "true" TNG films go, it's the most haphazard in terms of getting it's overall shit together.

NEM, while having a script that would make even Michael Bay demand a rewrite, has direction, although it only heads straight into the gutter from the starting line.

INS, while being preachy, is genuinely entertaining, and the pacing is well done. The story is fairly good, though some of the emphasis is placed on the wrong characters and interactions.

FC, is all over the place. The story is a bunch of shit, the characters are transformed into insane caricatures of their series counterparts, and the production design is obnoxious.

But that's my take on it.

You'd think it'd be a little harder to pick a worst TNG movie, since the shit level was pretty high, overall. But NEM just steals the cake, rapes, and murders it.

NEM 3/10: It gets points for one or two interesting effects shots. It looses the rest for being a boring hack job of a movie.

INS 6/10: It's not really good, but I didn't find it offensively bad. Really, if you took out the lame humor and had the Enterprise fight a Starfleet ship rather than a lame alien of the week, it would've been way more exciting and high-stake. Really, the so-called Insurrection was against ONE FUCKING ADMIRAL. The Son'a are COMPLETELY EXTRANEOUS to the plot. Replace them with a couple of starfleet ships under the Admiral. Playing it safe all the way was this films biggest problem.

GEN 8/10: Looses points for a somewhat anti-clamatic conclusion and blatant emotional button-pushing. ARE YOU FEELING FOR THE CHARACTERS YET? Still pretty fun and entertaining overall.

FC 9/10: Aside from the humanization of the Borg by giving them a human voice (aka the Queen) and some design choices I disliked (terrible new uniforms, kewl new battleship Enterprise), this is by far the superior product of the bunch.

So a tie between Nemises and Insurrection really

I think we can all agree if they had stopped at FC or really thought out what plots for future ones would be, they would have been better off.

Last time I checked, 52% vs. 31% isn't a "tie." At least, not unless it's an election year, in which case it's an "amazing come-from-behind effort" for the second-place finisher. ;)

Maybe should have said, Insurrection and Nemesis are the worst two, since Insurrection still has 1/3 of the vote...and was, lets fact it, the worst...

fountain of youth on a planet of human looking aliens beats the picard clone every time

...in your opinion. And 68.1% of the people who've voted in this poll would seem to disagree with you. ;)

I forgot if I posted in this thread. /crazy old man

For me, it's Nemesis all the way. I look at NEM as the poster child for fail.

Insurrection had a few good moments, but lacked real depth.

First Contact was solid, but was mostly mindless action when you boil it all down.

Generations missed the boat due to big plot holes, but Kirk, Scotty & Chekov were there which saved it.

The TNG movies were okay overall.
I'm going to go watch Star Trek IV now. ;)

"The people" thought Lord of the Rings was entertaining...what do they know?;)

And you seem to like Voyager, so obviously there's no accounting for taste.

OH SNAP! YEAH, I WENT THERE! ;)

(I keed, I keed...)

hmm, I guess I'm just crazy then, but I've always felt that one of the biggest problems with TV shows that turn into movies is that they don't just give you what you already like about the TV show and make it longer and more involved.

I LIKED that Insurrection was basically a 2 hour episode. I thought it was the most "trek" of all of the TNG movies.

I thought Generations was well done, but gets very boring if watched multiple times. The whole nexus thing just wasn't that impressive.

First Contact was a great movie, just not a great "trek" movie. In fact whenever I try to get a non-trekkie fan to watch a trek movie with me it's always this one because its more of a action-horror movie than a star trek film.

Insurrection I thought had the most "trek spirit" to it with lots of light hearted moments, mixture of planetside and spacebourne action, and just it's general story flow.

Nemesis for me was a "Wrath of Kahn" wannabe that couldn't even come close to pulling it off. Oddly enough though if you watch the deleted scenes and mentally place them into the movie it suddenly becomes much better, lol.

So in summary, I'd have to say Generations was my least favorite. It had some great moments, but was just so anti-climactic. The Duras sisters are not good villains, and a 20 year old Bird of Prey is not a match for a Galaxy class ship, even if it's shields are down. ONE all out volley of fire from the Enterprise-D would have vaporized that little tuna can.
