Worst Star Trek character ever

May I extend this to every single Vulcan on Enterprise for the same reason? I swear nobody ever bothered to tell the guest actors that Vulcans aren't supposed to show emotions, because every time I see them they seem to be yelling angrily at a human. :vulcan:

And in an episode I watched yesterday, Archer asked T'Pol to read something over for him and she said I'D BE HAPPY TO. HAPPY.

FWIW, this is somewhat belatedly (and, IMO, poorly) explained away in Season 4, when lost writings of Surak are discovered and it is implied that this will have a profound impact on Vulcan culture, which is why 23rd- and 24th-century Vulcans behave very differently from 22nd-century Vulcans.

I'm only up to season 2 on my first viewing right now, so we'll see how I feel when I get to that. But it seems to me that the Vulcans of Enterprise still follow the same rules of logic and emotional suppression, so I don't know that they can come up with a legitimate excuse for some of the slip ups.

What slip ups? The Vulcans have always been arrogant jerks that never ever lived up to their own ideals - yet for some reason fans have decided that they're somehow perfect beings. See: "Journey to Babel", "Amok Time", "Yesteryear", STV (aliens are allowed on Vulcan, yet they banish Sybok because he doesn't follow their lifestyle) and STXI.

You're right. It's not so much about always being perfect, but the Vulcans on ENT didn't even seem to be trying to suppress their emotions a lot of the time. (I've never seen any of TOS, so I can't speak for those examples you've given for comparison).
They've always been arrogant and condescending, but they were usually much more subtle and controlled in their emotional responses to humans. Maybe their ideals struggled in the earlier years compensate for the influence of humanity?

Just because they strive for logic and try to block their emotions doesn't mean I expect them to be perfect. But to me they seem to be doing a hugely worse job of containing their emotions in ENT, when the dialogue and stories clearly indicates that their philosophy is still the same.

Wesley. Neelix wasn't that bad, and not in the same league as Wesley. I found Neelix occasionally annoying in early seasons, but he had a badass skullet mohawk that made it ok. But Wesley was a perpetual hate magnet. I also hated Ensign Ro. I got damn sick of her generic deadpan angst so quick it's not funny.

I'd also like to nominate Yarr and Pulaski. I actively beamed hate towards them every time they were on screen. Yarr was the crappiest security officer ever, and Pulaski was just an angry old lady. My friend was kind enough not to spoil the surprise that Yarr got killed before I watched it. Good times.

I think I love you now.

I think emotional Vulcans (mostly angry ones) is what put me off of the show.

That's why the revelation that Romulans were in control of Vulcan was such a brilliant idea. It explained away the whole "angry Vulcan" thing.

Anyway, Vulcans in TOS were just as capable of taking offense and acting petulantly. Sarek didn't speak to Spock for 18 years just because he decided to enter Starfleet. T'Pring chose Stonn over Spock without even attempting to settle matters in a rational matter; Stonn was definitely upset when she chose Kirk to fight with Spock instead of him.

Guy

Most annoying character: Wesley Crusher, hands down. Even Deanna Troi is less annoying at least in the later seasons.

At least Wesley never blathered on and on about feelings and vague impressions.

But both of them wore dorky clothing before getting a real uniform.

TOS series: Ensign Chekhov. And all the whiskey swilling writers, cheap ass NBC, and the Friday Night death slot.

TNG: Basically everyone except Picard, Data and Worf. I liked Pulaski because she was a "down to Earth" like character and she could of morfed into a female McCoy if her character was allowed to have been permanent. Crusher the lady is hot, but what else does she do? TNG also torpedoed Wil Wheaton's career. He was an up and coming actor and I think if he never did this role he could of been an A List actor now. Now that is all the poor bastard has.

Actually my second least favorite series.

DS9 (The Masterpiece) Keiko O'Brien, but she wasn't on too many episodes. The recurring characters I really disliked are the genetically altered people (the manic mustached guy, the oversexualized woman, the retarded older man, and the canotonic girl)

Voyager: I like this series a lot and don't share the dislike that many have on here. Kes I did not care for because she was a boring character (except when her body was inhabited by crazy alien of the week). I guess Star Trek also thought she was a boring character and got rid of Jennifer Lien for Jeri Ryan. Too bad our drunken Star Trek writers turned this beautiful woman into a dykey robot with helmet hair. I liked Neelix.

ENT: Ugh. Scott Bakula. Please no more Scott f'ing Bakula. He is the reason I never watched Quantum Leap. I also have to fault, again, the writers. The Xindi Arc? The final episode with again, William "The Gut" Riker cooking? Does Paramount even do mandatory drug testing on staff and writers?

Jolene Blalock hated the way the series was going and was very vocal about it in the end. One good thing that came out of that series was Linda Park. To all TV producers, directors and casting agents, get more ASIAN WOMEN on TV. Honestly, there can't be enough of them. Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, wherever. You want men 15-49 to watch your show, get an Asian girl in a bikini and have her bounce down a beach. Instant hit.

... but the Vulcans on ENT didn't even seem to be trying to suppress their emotions a lot of the time.
In the time period of ENT, the Vulcans as a group weren't yet doing the total no emotions thing. Only a few of them in a outcast society followed the teachings of Surak. The Vulcans were at best basically reserved.

:):):):):)

She was a female McCoy from day one, and it's for that very reason that nobody liked her. Myself included.

RandyS... you really need to start using the "Multi-Quote" feature. You have been here long enough to know that.

I liked her. I found Diana Muldaur's performances enjoyable and she made good contributions to some episodes, like Elementary, Dear Data.

If we're talking worst characters, Janice Rand was rather wet for my tastes and Travis Mayweather seemed like an extra much of the time.

Gotta be neelix and kes whoever thought up there charcters needs a phaser set to kill they were bloody awful or Harry Kim boring as Wesley crushers boxer shorts !!!

Neelix all the way.

Dr. Crusher (why? cause she just disagreed with everyone about everything).

Worst Star Trek character ever?

Three-way tie between:

Keiko O'Brien
Jadzia Dax
Lwaxana Troi

...all three serve no useful function that justifies them having any presence in any episode, and are likewise inherently annoying to the utmost degree possible.
