Worst Star Trek character ever

FWIW, this is somewhat belatedly (and, IMO, poorly) explained away in Season 4, when lost writings of Surak are discovered and it is implied that this will have a profound impact on Vulcan culture, which is why 23rd- and 24th-century Vulcans behave very differently from 22nd-century Vulcans.

Oh lord. I'm dying to see what they said.

What did he write? "Stop being arrogant dicks."?

They didn’t specify, but your speculation seems sensible. If it’s true, the Vulcan for “Stop being arrogant dicks” is insanely long. Maybe the reason Vulcans of Surak’s time were so uptight is because it took 800 pages to say “Stop being arrogant dicks.”

Despite having seen all (or almost all) of Enterprise, I only remember one scene in which Travis spoke, and that was his intro scene with Reed in Broken Bow. It's weird, I really can't remember him in any other scene (aside from the time he was abducted by the mechanized space station and turned into a computer processing node).
Fortunate Son

Dead Stop

T'Pol - poorly written and poorly acted

May I extend this to every single Vulcan on Enterprise for the same reason? I swear nobody ever bothered to tell the guest actors that Vulcans aren't supposed to show emotions, because every time I see them they seem to be yelling angrily at a human. :vulcan:

And in an episode I watched yesterday, Archer asked T'Pol to read something over for him and she said I'D BE HAPPY TO. HAPPY.

I'm only up to season 2 on my first viewing right now, so we'll see how I feel when I get to that. But it seems to me that the Vulcans of Enterprise still follow the same rules of logic and emotional suppression, so I don't know that they can come up with a legitimate excuse for some of the slip ups.

Agree with you both. Seven, I was really glad to see your comment about Tim Russ, as I believe too few recognize his great performance.

Initially I didn't think highly of Tuvok and Tim Russ's performance, but with time I started to appreciate him. And after seeing T'Pol I knew that Tuvok wasn't badly acted and there was nothing wrong with him :)

I think his biggest "sin" was not being Spock. Once I accepted that not all Vulcans are Spocks and Sareks, Tuvok became one of well portrayed Vulcans for me.

Are we criticizing the actor's portrayal of a character or the character themselves? Because you can't criticize Ethan Philipps as Neelix. If viewing strictly from a performance standpoint, he did exactly what he was supposed to do: be the most annoying character in all 7 seasons.

Now Chakotay, his character was just plain lame. Every Chakotay-centered episode involved some sort of vision quest or spirit journey. If it weren't for that dream machine thingimajigger he would probably have overdosed on some sort of hallucinogen before season 5.

Tasha Yar.
Why did they turn her into a revered saint after her death? She was a terrible security officer.
After her it would be Lwaxana Troi, followed by just about every Admiral in TOS and TNG.

I don't mind Wesley, Neelix or Chakotay.
