What would you like to see in the finale episode of Season 5?

My preference would be for one final episodic adventure, not the conclusion to a season plotline, and then the entire crew heads off toward another star system. Pretty much exactly what they did in the last minutes of season 3!

An SNW take on the Reliant would be interesting.
Isn't that just the Farragut? It's essentially a Miranda minus the rollbar.

In fact according to the Fanhome model booklet, it was directly inspired by the Miranda and even had a rollbar in early concepts but it was removed to make the ship look simpler.

It's already been confirmed that the season ends with Kirk taken command. So it will probably be that, but with a slightly different crew.

Yep - it definitely is SNW's take on the Miranda Class.

Forgive me if this is a misinterpretation but that kind of implies it is a Miranda just like how the dash-nothing is a Constitution viewed through a better camera.

It seems clearer to me the Bellerophon class is just the predecessor to the Miranda in this era of round nacelles.

It would reignite the canon debate and the premise that the 1701 "always" looked like it did in SNW, but a homage to the final Vader/Emperor scene in Revenge of the Sith, this time with Spock and Kirk on a full fledged TOS bridge (shot on one of the TOS bridge recreations or using AI AR walls for filming or whatever), looking out the viewscreen together would be perfect.

Which one would be ruining the shot by continually teetering forward on their lifts?

Final scenes for me would be...

- Enterprise saves a planet/people losing a crew member, badly damaged returns to drydock for repairs and refit...
- Pike saying goodbye to his surviving crew, those staying on Enterprise, and those moving on
- Number One promoted to Captain
- Pike recommending Jim Kirk to replace him
- Spock being offered Kohlinar, declines to stay on Enterprise
- Pike takes a sabatical before becoming an instructor
- Fade to many months later
- Kirk boards the refitted (retro looking Enterprise)
- Spock changed his mind, wanting to get to know Kirk
- We see the ToS crew together, looking more like their ToS selves
- "Space, The Final Frontier..." Spoken by Paul Wesley / and Bill Shatner

The final scene that I was is a downer. And to get it, I think the final episode would be need to be told non-linearly, beginning in some way with the aftermath and the reactions of the other major characters. Maybe it's told Rashomon-style, with people telling what they saw on Pike's final day.

The final scnee I want is Fleet Captain Pike, recognizing that the moment he has been running from for a decade, has finally come. The accident happens. The cadets are trapped. He knows this is the moment. His face is much like Gandalf's at the Council of Elrond when Frodo says he will take the Ring to Mordor. There is sadness, a palpable grief for all the things he's yet to do, followed by a determination and the knowledge that what he's doing is right.

The final shot is Pike opening the door and embracing his destiny.

This is Strange New Worlds. This is Pike's show. Downer or no, end it with him.

How about this? Paul Wesley sits in the captain's chair as Kirk for the first time, and after the standard banter between our now assembled crew...

Sulu: "What course should I set, Captain?"

Kirk: (after a moment of consideration)
"Out there... Thataway."

And the ship jumps to Warp, the scene fades out and the credits roll.

ETA -- Oh! TOS end credit music plays over the final credits.

Turtletrekker, I have to say THAT ending would be the cat's ass! While concept of seeing Pike embrace his fate carries gravitas, this would be an upbeat and appropriate ending. And if the showrunners are really intent with bringing their series into line with TOS, then this is the way to do it.

:techman:

Oh, let me add one more thing to this.

When Kirk used the "thataway" line in TMP and the Enterprise went to warp, it was followed up by a little text card that said, "And the adventure continues..."

Here, text card would read, "And the adventure begins..." :)
