I was content with Picard's series finale

Jonathan Frakes definitely grew up to be a good actor — which is funny in a way, since back in 1987 I thought he was terrible. It’s not the first time I’ve seen an actor get so much better as they grow older, which stands to reason — more acting experience and more life experience.
Now, c'mon. Has any acting performance ever been better than Jonathan Frakes as Jamie Lee Hogg?1778890394295.png

As I continue my rewatch, my appreciation for the character stuff continues to grow. In particular, with Frakes as Riker.

Season three of Picard trashed the characters. In my humble opinion, of course. Back in season one, "Nepenthe" gave us some of Riker and Troi's best moments ever. In season three, Riker and Troi basically said, remember that time we made pizza? Were we morons or what?

Beverly Crusher wants her son to be safe. So she takes him outside of the protection of the Federation and makes him a smuggler and criminal. Meanwhile, Picard luxuriates at his blissful and comfortable place in France, not at all threatened by whatever the hell Bev was so worried about that she had to keep her kid and her life a secret.

Data gets some great moments in season one. Forget about that, let's have fanwank data instead.

We get to see past characters like Ro Laren just long enough for them to be killed off.

I guess different people have different ideas about character stuff.

Honestly, we already had several variations of Picard and Ro reuniting in the various tie-ins over the years, the only real difference here was that it actually involved Patrick Stewart and Michelle Forbes and was canon.

That I'd already read the one in the DS9 relaunch I think made me more curious to see how PIC would handle it.

Honestly, one of the few things I feel S3 (and arguably the show entire) handled well.
