A Stitch in Time! It's the the last book I need to read!
Admittedly, given they did recently release an audio book version of it, I am kind of surprised there wasn't a reprint of A Stitch in Time. Actually, given how few new Trek novels are being released annually now, I would have thought releasing reprints of older fan favorites would have been a convenient way to keep a Trek novel presence in the stores year round, just like Star Wars does with their Legends novels.

As I recall, "all" is not very much, and "vaguely suggestive" would be more accurate than "homoerotic."

I have it, it's verified that it's the original version (the title is embossed and foiled on the cover, and it's dated July 1985), and I don't know what all the fuss was all about. It's not even remotely as "racy" as Marshak & Culbreath (or Cogswell & Spano's Spock: Messiah).
Spock: Messiah isn't in the same category, since its raciness was strictly heterosexual, and thus wouldn't have been seen as controversial in the same way.
You get no argument from me there. It's in a category by itself in a lot of ways. Most of them not good. From telepathy-through-technology to a sexually inhibited STEM woman willing to risk compromising a mission, the crew, the ship, and the PD, in order to become, ahem, sexually uninhibited. "But as long as it isn't gay, much less 'slashy'." Yeef. It was another time. Pity that so many of us, and now so many of our leaders, are stuck in that time.
How is that a negative? It makes a lot more sense than "natural" telepathy, and there's certainly onscreen precedent in Trek for technological mind-reading (the Universal Translator as described in "Metamorphosis" shows that Starfleet should already have the technological capability for it). It's a clever idea, one of the few merits of the book. (Although as a teenager reading the book in the '80s, I found the sexy stuff to be a merit.)

The funny thing is, I'd forgotten that Spock, Messiah! has its good moments, amongst the out-of-character stuff and the rampant sexism. Like Kirk joking about wondering whether an off-key rendition of The St. James Infirmary Blues constituted a PD violation.
And lets not bring up Geordi and Dr. Brahms again. Especially in combination with anything involving Screenrant. It's a sure-fire recipe for generating massive amounts of heat, but no light whatsoever.
