what to watch first? Strange New Worlds or Discovery?

"Discovery" Season Two is essentially "Strange New Worlds" Season Zero.

A couple of episodes of it, yeah.

I watched seven episodes of season one of STD and two episodes of season two and didn't miss anything germane to understanding SNW.

I haven't really revisited any of DISCO since their first airing. However, I recently looked up clips from DISCO related to SNW and it's so bizarre to watch in terms of how the characters look, the style of photography and the sets not quite having the warmth of the proper series. I'm glad they gave SNW an aesthetic revamp. Those dyed DISCO uniforms did not look great.

As you haven't watched either, I recommend the following viewing order:

SNW S1
SNW S2

And of course SNW S3, eventually.

There’s absolutely no need to even approach DSC before watching SNW.

Whichever interests you more or suits your viewing style, I suppose! I'm working through everything in chronological release order, so I'm not up to Discovery yet. I've watched Strange New Worlds however, since my friend wanted to engage in an ongoing trek series and watch it weekly. You'll be able to understand the things that go on in SNW just fine, but I suppose DSC just gives it some extra flavour if you watch it first.
