What Famous Guest Star Should Have Been On ST, But Wasn't?

Plus, I think MGM in effect "rented" the prop/costume to various productions . And Trek, being particularly budget conscious, probably felt such funds could be better used elsewhere. (Of course, the way I'm phrasing my speculation gives the impression the production team actually considered it. I'm not stating they did. I'm just wondering how they might have handled the situation had it ever been addressed.

That's part of the reason (I suspect) Irwin Allen commissioned Bob Kinoshita (the creator of Robby) to design an "in house" prop, the rental fees if used throughout the series' run. As expensive as it was initially, in the long run, it was probably cheaper.

Sincerely,

Bill

Phyllis Diller as McCoy's ex-wife

She's tougher than the Gorn, nastier than the Klingons, and uglier than the Gorgan. Hmmmm....no wonder McCoy got a Starfleet divorce from this hideous creature.

Or as one of the Space Hippies along with John Lennon?

Stella Mudd!

Not sure if he has been mentioned but I think Henry Silva would have been great in the right alien role. Another excellent actor who by then was aging but might have done exceedingly well would have been Edmond O'Brien.

... and Don Adams as another Captain.

I don't know about a Captain, but I could see him as an excentric type of character, like Trelayne, Mudd or Cyrano Jones...

Or Don Adams as a Captain of a smaller vessel, like the Antares with a crew of 20 commanded by Captain Ramart from the Season 1 episode "Charlie X" or the SS Beagle with a crew of 47 that Captain Merik commanded in the Season 2 episode "Bread and Circuses".

I just wouldn't be able to take a captain seriously if he kept his communicator in his shoe. ;)

I was thinking that Michael Rennie might have made a good captain or admiral. He had a presence about him. Also, Donald Pleasance might have made a good Korob, in place of Theo Marcuse.

I'm sure his First Officer, Hymie the Robot, would remind him, Captain Maxwell Smart, of that to try and put an end to Capt. Max. using the communicator boot. ;)

Here is a link to a short video (36 seconds) of Hymie the Robot from "Get Smart".

Pardon if this has been brought up, but Jonathan Harris would have made a great Cyrano Jones had be not been over on that "other space show."

Though he’s mainly known for playing the simpering comic villain that Dr. Smith devolved into in the later epsiodes of Lost in Space, Jonathan Harris was a very good character actor. It would have been interesting to see him play Harry Mudd.

My First Post!

Bo Derek = Painted Green Orion Style, ahem....

Bette Davis = First Female Admiral, but totally sarcastic, insulting and acerbic.

Jason Robards = as God looking for way to retire

John Ritter = Charlie X's bumbling younger Brother that trips over furniture and can't control his randomly activated powers!

Hello All! Long time reader, now I finally dared to join!
I'm creating a very elaborate 3D Animated TOS Fan Film and I hope to share my output with the community and get constructive feedback and inspiration!

Welcome to the Trek BBS!

Bo Derek would have made a great green Orion girl in one of the later Trek shows. But this particular subforum is about Star Trek, the Original Series. Bo was ten years old when the show debuted.

Johnny Depp as a Romulan

And Johnny Depp was three! Now we’re just getting silly.
