What Famous Guest Star Should Have Been On ST, But Wasn't?

Martin Landau as a childhood friend of Spock's (the only one who didn't reject him as a half-breed) who turns out to be a deep-cover Romulan spy planted on Vulcan as a child.

This story idea has a great deal of merit!

Merit, indeed! That would have been a great story. Why doesn't someone write it? Would make a pretty decent novel too!

What about the member CHRISTOPHER, his profile says he is a working writer; does anyone know how to PM this post to him, and get his opinion on this?

^Sorry, the fact that I've read the idea in this thread means that I can't use it. Pro writers can't use unsolicited story ideas -- it puts us and our publishers at too much risk of lawsuits.

Besides, how can a novel character be played by Martin Landau?

Barbara Feldon as one of Kirk's revolving door of Yeomans would have been nice. She'd have looked great in those short skirts.

Ed Platt as an Admiral, and Don Adams as another Captain.

... and Don Adams as another Captain.

I don't know about a Captain, but I could see him as an excentric type of character, like Trelayne, Mudd or Cyrano Jones...

Or Don Adams as a Captain of a smaller vessel, like the Antares with a crew of 20 commanded by Captain Ramart from the Season 1 episode "Charlie X" or the SS Beagle with a crew of 47 that Captain Merik commanded in the Season 2 episode "Bread and Circuses".

I searched to see if this was mentioned upthread, but who SHOULD have been on Star Trek was Robert Ryan as Commodore Decker, whom I believe was Spinrad's original vision for the role. Ryan would have kicked arse.

Robbie the Robot. He'd have been perfect as Flynt's robot as opposed to the recast cloaking device.

Bob Crane is an obvious choice as a womanising captain. Crane and Kirk go on the pull on every planet and Starbase they come across leaving a wake of bastard children and std infected partners.

By that time, Robby was already too much of an icon to be taken seriously if they’d used him in Star Trek. It would have seemed like stunt robot casting.
