Braga was definitely a major contributor in the writer’s room.
And did we need the Miradorn, Tzenkethi, and the Breen, when we already had the Talarians, Jarada, and the Sheliak? Or the Tholians, Zalkonians, and the Gorn? The Conspiracy parasites, Kzinti, and, hell, the First Federation? Whatever happened to Nagilum and his people, and the trans dimensional aliens in "Schisms" aliens, and others?
I love them all, and now that they’re established I think more should be done with them. But that’s my point: more could have been done with the ones already established at that point. Trek’s gotten too accustomed to dealing with monocultures. Like the monoclimates on Star Wars planets, it’s unrealistic and limiting. It takes on a life of its own and becomes, yes, kinda racist. Star Wars is swell, but I’d like more sci-fi in my sci-fi. And non-humanoids lolNo, we didn't need them but neither do I have a problem with that. The galaxy is huge, and the Federation would have had neighbours in 3 dimensions, not just 2. So there's room for all of them. But I agree that there were enough species they could've revisited.
That is not a Vic Fontaine suit. But Fred Gwyn deserved an award for that part. The ridiculous suit.
The "pricesses to be rescued" scenario was played out by two of the most well-rounded, successful, and powerful women Trek has ever depicted. Both spent their days commanding space stations and starships, frequently besting men (even Klingon men) in combat, performing intensive scientific research, and generally being anything but "damsels in distress." Is it so unrealistic that maybe, just once in a while, they might want to go play act a character that is the complete opposite just for fun? Also, women hardly play around in the holodeck. That one time it was as princesses to be rescued - yuck. When men go in there its old-fashioned stuff or to get a date. Why do they have such an affinity for times when women were only receptionists and damsels? I will give Data credit for playing Sherlocke Holmes but he is an android. Not a red-blooded human male.
Any particular reason why?I don’t enjoy “The Visitor”.
It's as if you don't think I know the obvious about these women. That matters not. Its like wondering if Sisko wanted to play the faithful black sidekick for fun and as a change. Plus, its hella boring waiting around to be rescued. No matter what century. But if you connect it to what I said about the men's holodeck activities. Its very telling. It's also so gender based too. I mean why did they just maybe want to go to a Beatles concert? Or play Xena Warrior princess if they were sick of that century? Oh, and Kira did not even enjoy herself. The "pricesses to be rescued" scenario was played out by two of the most well-rounded, successful, and powerful women Trek has ever depicted. I actually see very little difference. That is not a Vic Fontaine suit. But Fred Gwyn deserved an award for that part.
If they had wanted to go to a Beatles concert, THEN I would have judged them. Gah. TBH, they are just perhaps the most popular band of all time and that's why I chose them. Like some of their songs but not a superfan. Led Zeppelin? Actually, I can see Worf taking Dax to a concert. If they had wanted to go to a Beatles concert, THEN I would have judged them. Gah. One of the most overrated groups in the history of music.
