What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Torres was a more interesting character than Seven of Nine. I like Seven a great deal but IMO Torres had the more interesting backstory and I liked her insecurity about her Klingon heritage and I also loved the romance she had with Tom Paris. I don't think she was given as many interesting episodes as Seven but I still really liked the character

And did we need the Miradorn, Tzenkethi, and the Breen, when we already had the Talarians, Jarada, and the Sheliak? Or the Tholians, Zalkonians, and the Gorn? The Conspiracy parasites, Kzinti, and, hell, the First Federation? Whatever happened to Nagilum and his people, and the trans dimensional aliens in "Schisms" aliens, and others?

No, we didn't need them but neither do I have a problem with that. The galaxy is huge, and the Federation would have had neighbours in 3 dimensions, not just 2. So there's room for all of them. But I agree that there were enough species they could've revisited.

I love them all, and now that they’re established I think more should be done with them. But that’s my point: more could have been done with the ones already established at that point. Trek’s gotten too accustomed to dealing with monocultures. Like the monoclimates on Star Wars planets, it’s unrealistic and limiting. It takes on a life of its own and becomes, yes, kinda racist. Star Wars is swell, but I’d like more sci-fi in my sci-fi. And non-humanoids lol
