Warehouse 13 renewed for fifth/final seasonfinal

Getting Myka and Pete together would feel weird to me, too. When I was writing the WH13 novel, the TV people specifically told me NOT to insert any sexual tension between Pete and Myka, but to write them as brother/sister instead . . . .
The brother/sister relationship occurs in real life when two people grow up in the same household together. This happens in a normal genetic family, or with young step-siblings. It is a happenstance of development of young children's brains, not plot-lines in fiction.
There is an obvious surrogate when two adults meet with various coincidences in their lives, and form a surrogate brother/sister relationship. It is dangerous to conflate the two.
I'm happy to go into more psychological detail, but the distinction should be pretty obvious.

Well, in this case, "brother/sister" wasn't meant to be taken literally. It was shorthand for "this isn't the usual 'will-they-or-won't-they' type of TV partnership."

Usually, when male and female partners are paired on TV, there's lots of underlying sexual tension simmering beneath the surface and driving the narrative. Think CASTLE, BONES, X-FILES, etc. But, up until now, the Pete/Myka relationship has not really been all about "when are they finally going to hook up?"

Besides, we all know that Myka is REALLY in love with Helena. :)

Pete acts like a child.

Which is not attractive unless it's accompanied by embarrassing wealth.

How on Earth did he marry an Officer in the US Military?

Maybe she needed comic relief after spending all day blowing up camels with drones.

(Not a racial slur. Literally camels.)

I think Myka and Pete make perfect sense being together. It doesn't seem like anyone else could tolerate being them but them. I do get the brother/sister angle and that has worked great over the series. But, with the show ending, you can now hook them up together at the very end and not worry about how the new relationship dynamic will affect the show.

Though if they don't quite thread the needle, it will affect the finale and how the audience feels about the ending of the show. You don't want people walking away with a sour taste in their mouth. (I'm looking at you How I Met Your Mother...)

If it's same gender partners, but both are heterosexual, if they become close, they consider each other brothers. They didn't grow up together, but yet they feel close , and without sexual tension. McGarrett & Danno on Hawaii Five-0 bicker like a married couple (as has been mentioned on the show), but they ain't hookin up.

With Claudia & Jinks, despite being opposite gender and close, there is no sexual Tension because one of them is gay.

So why does there have to be an "inevitable" hook-up with Pete & Myka. I don't mind them having a "defining the relationship" talk, but it'd be nice if it didn't do the "obvious".

Kinda goes against the thought of gender equality.

i don't like this whole Pete/Myka thing either. what i always loved about their relationship was that, aside from Pete making jokes, there was no sexual tension between them. like Greg said, there has never been any 'will they or won't they' moments. heck, we had an episode about them waking up naked together and using that as a clue because they knew they would never ever sleep together.

And sometimes people know each other for years, with no conscious sexual attraction, and then things change. It happens.

Pete was just offering sperm.

Of course, I'm not sure if he's aware how much artificial insemination costs.

Although, I'm guessing that money is not an issue considering that they seem to have no outgoing expenses.

But at almost 3 grand US per attempt, and given her age and his age, they might be needing several, that's going to be a drop in the bucket compared to private school.

I'm sure the Warehouse provides health insurance, which would probably cover up to six cycles.

But they sorta don't exist, and neither does their job, officially.

A massive self contained discretionary fund that fulfils the same duties as insurance but with less questions is what I see them having... So, um yeah... Free Healthcare in a round about way.

Or are they IRS file clerks?

(Their cover, and the Warehouses Cover in Univille.)

THE IRS COVERS THEIR INSURANCE!

(Hilarious.)

Except it seems to happen on TV a lot. Moonlighting, X-Files, , most recently Being Human, and i'm blanking out on many more cuz it's 6am.

i just would like to see something different

Moonlighting was a given. It's like they were shot up with concentrated Spencer/Tracy steroids. The real difficulty was tricking the actors who hated each other to stand in the same room for longer than three minutes, and act.

In the second X-Files movie where after a hard days work they just casually hop into bed, kiss, say "good night" and roll over to sleep like an old married couple, so I was "WHAT THE FUCK!? WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT??!!"

Being Human doesn't count. For the first 95 percent of the story Sally didn't have lips or genitals. Although when she was a Zombie, he let her eat him a little to ease her hunger, since it was going to grow back because of his vampire healing factor... But she took a huge chunk out of Aiden. Fuck off Weight Watchers, you can't hold a candle to consensual cannibalism.

:)

But I get your point.

Non romantic partners on a quest/series of quests/mission, that get closer, closer , closer, inserted.

Fringe. Duh.

Bones. The Baby was a clue.

Castle. They have totally Tony and Angelaed it.

Crisis? Time will tell.

Death in Paradise. Almost, dead and almost again. Probably cancelled.

Elementary? Nah. Doubt it. No thank you.

Hannibal? Are Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter going to do it?

Homeland. She's ####ing mental. That kid inside her is better off without Brodie for a father.

NCIS? Denied! Tony and Ziva... I waited 6 years, and then she just wandered off. WTF!!!??? The new girl is married, and way too young for even McGee maybe? Hells, Abby is almost 50 even though she acts like a 12 year old, its had to plot age appropriateness in this series with any conviction.

Perception. Will kinda wants Josie sometimes and she loves him like a friend... Give it time.

Rizzoli and Isles. Conan O'Brien keeps saying that this show has a hopeful & strong willed Lesbian following.

Scarecrow and Mrs King. She was married in the first season.

Get Smart. As much as I loved them getting together, their kid grew up to be Andy Dick.

The Black List? If they are not father and daughter, it might be possible.

The Mentalist? It's looking unlikely but Teresa and Jane would be so good together.

Arrow? Ollie has to notice Felicity at some point? Fuck. How dumb is he?

Continuum? She's married, but she frakked Kellog, and her husband and child might not exist any more, but Carlos looks like a Billy Zanian underwear model. Even I would tap that given half a chance.

The Middleman. NO! No! A thousand times no!

Orphan black? Too many permutations. Walk away.

Ressurection? Duh! Foreman is clinging to that skiny white Doctor like she's an AC unit at the height of a wet summer.

Supernatural? Good lord they are brothers! Just because Game of Thrones made incest look cool, leave these kids alone! BROTHERS!

The Vampire Diaries? Again BROTHERS! What is wrong with you people!? ...But they did used to have threesomes with Katherine. Their junk probably accidentally touched often.

Babylon 5. I could barely take my eyes off Ivanova to notice John all cow-eyed for that egg head.

Stuff.

I hope they get Pete and Myka together at the end.

They both love what they're doing, and there seems to be no way they could marry someone outside the program and stay active as Warehouse agents. They're in a very small world.

I'm not really compelled by the Claudia/sister thing, though. It seems too contrived, although watching her sister kill her parents was pretty intense. We'll see.

There is probably something in the warehouse that could get Pete Knocked up, so he does not have to donate sperm.
