USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

One of the theories I’ve heard is that the final episode ends with the actual Enterprise showing up. That’ll be cool to see.

yeah, but isn't this bridge corridor closer to the TOS style hallways than the discovery ones? something about it speaks to me as a more successful update of that fairly mundane set than the way they modified their standing sets.

Oh yeah, absolutely. The bridge corridor (which I think is a bit of a useless update, but whatever) most definitely is a better update than the re-dressed hallways. But that's of course because it's an entirely newly made set! Them also creating an entire new corridor set for what is essentially just a cameo appereance by the Enterprise would probably blow their budget. So adding the red - but especially the grills - worked pretty nice.

But yeah, at this point, I feel I've seen the Shenzhou/Discovery/Enterprise corridors enough. If they do more with the Enterprise, they really should create a new corridor set as well - hopefully in the bridge corridor aesthetic, but with red grills anyway.:D

But for what they had at hand, I think they did a pretty bang up job re-dressing their usual corridors to make them feel Enterprise-like!

Le'ts see how many actual Enterprises there are: there's NX-01, 1701, 1701 + refit, and then 1701-A through 1701-J. So does the theory go just one actual Enterprise, some actual Enterprises or all of them:eek:. So does this theory says its going to be like the end of Day of the Doctor?

And it was far better designed than the hot mess Eaves cobbled together for STD.

  1. Eaves design was a very careful one, with many design considerations, and honestly as intricate and costly as the main ship of this show. He didn't "cobble it together", this is clearly a work of passion and art
  2. Apart from that - yeah. I don't get it either. Like, I don't hate that new version. But IMO it looks as generic as most fan-redesigns spamming the Internet. I blame less on Eaves personally, more on the producers giving notes. But still... for such an iconic design, that revamp is remarkably mundane and generic...

Opinions are not statements of fact.

They were not opinions.

Only one of those quotes is fact.

No.

Learn to take a joke.

I'm pretty sure your statement was not meant as a joke, backpedaling aside.

Eaves just took a design he had made for the NX-01 from ENT, changed it around a tiny bit, and presented it as the DSC Enterprise. I doubt that much thought or time went into it as some people think.

Wow. Even more opinions here.

You're welcome to think what you like. I really do not care. I do find it interesting that you don't seem to care about how thribs comment about the Enterprise may have gone down to people who like the new design. So please, save your lectures and yes save you pearl clutching.

Personally, I don't view the Enterprise as some untouchable sacrosanct object. Hell, changing the Enterprise was one of the first things Roddenberry did when he had to funds to do so.

Maybe actually read the books that go into detail on how he designed the new Enterprise, because that isn’t what he did.

No.

Two of them were opinions.
