USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

ethan peck posted some photos on IG of the unfinished re-dress of discovery's corridor into the enterprise corridor:

kind of wish they'd stopped here and not put in the 1960's grills, but still a cool update... (de-update?)

Nice!
But honestly? The grills were for me probably the best part of it all!
Otherwise I really don't care that much for DIS' corridor set, I think it's rather monotonic, and as a redress was my least favourite "set" of the Disco-Enterprise as shown. But the grills? Goddamn did they made me happy when they appeared.:D

Agreed that the grille-work is a really nice touch. They make the corridors look smaller, and I wasn't even aware they were the same corridors.

This is probably the place to ask. Does anyone have pictures of those concept renderings of the discovery enterprise bridge exterior? it showed how the transparent hull window works and gave us a very small glimpse at the bridge through the window. I believe it was included in a book that came with one of the models? Hopefully it's clear what I'm talking about. For the life of me I can't find a picture anywhere. They came out a few months ago.

i know. i'm not fun. but i'm not that into kitsch, and i thought it was kitschy.

i think the corridor should've looked like the bridge corridor:

maybe it will in the *cough*inevitable*cough* pike spin-off where they can't reuse discovery sets.

I'm torn on the corridor mesh pieces. On the one hand, nice simple way to differentiate from the DSC sets that they are beyond color. On the other, it doesn't really fit with the bridge aesthetic.

See, whereas I think, if they build new Enterprise corridor sets - agreed they really should be more like that bridge corridor. But with added red grills.:D

If they want to evoke the old Enterprise - they should go all the way. I see no value in bringing in that iconic design, if they're then not doing that iconic design! For an otherwise just "updated" or "more realistic" ship, they didn't need to bring in the old lady herself.

yeah, but isn't this bridge corridor closer to the TOS style hallways than the discovery ones? something about it speaks to me as a more successful update of that fairly mundane set than the way they modified their standing sets.

THIS! I thought the same. Also the touches to the turbolift -- handles and silvery grey swirls with lights passing -- as well as the conference room (complete with tri-viewscreen in the middle of the table) and also THAT BRIDGE! THIS is the effect the set designers were seeking from TOS fans. How anyone can say with a straight face that they weren't true to the original design is quite frankly just looking for something to complain about.

I love the DSC Enterprise turbolifts. Just a turbolift car with some simple wall controls and the frosted window to show the decks zipping by. No big readout screens or enough room to hold a large family with space left over for the ship's yeoman. It's elegant and the way Trek starship turbolifts should look.

Just wait until we get the exterior shots of the Enterprise Turbolift Funhouse!
