USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

The NX-01 manages to look less technologically advanced than the TOS Connie, but the model definitely looks like it was designed and built 35 years later.

As for linear design, it might be unrealistic but it feels better IMO, like sound in space.

Its nothing like that, it just does not fit post NX, as its whole role was supposed to be pre saucer shape. That was always the non-canon stuff, ENT kinda screwed with years of non-canon ship line ups and placed the Saucer pre federation ( which we could blame on the Crew of the E).

Well according to the Romulan Wars novels the Daedalus pre-dates the NX.

This statement does not jive with the constant arguing about what looks more "futuristic."
It in fact does, one art style is dated, one is currently In trend so does not look dated. Trek tossed the Atomic age style in 79. Sure a homage got used here and there, but the show itself did not use that style after TOS. This was because styles changed. This was also why the uniforms from TMP were ditched after, because it was on trend at the time, a few sci-fi movies had something very much like it. But went out of style fast.
You sum up your argument very succinctly here (notwithstanding the obviously debatable assertion that the TOS ship was just an artifact of "atomic age" styling). However, you seem completely unable to grasp that saying something obeys the latest Hollywood trends is not the same as saying it looks futuristic. And it is not inherently a virtue.

...I mean, look at TOS, if you Put a DSC Klingon in there, it would look off, like a bad photoshop. Because the style clashes.
A DSC Klingon ship would look bad anywhere you put it.

Not even Kelvin, which had some very, very retro nods, went with that art style, because it does not sell well to most people. You will always have a subgroup of people who will love it, but that does not mean it will work for a broad base.
You're making completely unsupportable broad-brush assertions about the tastes of vast numbers of people. Of course it's much easier to argue your case if you just assume that majorities conveniently share your personal tastes. But I study politics, and making assumptions about the preferences of others without actual evidence is the way to lose elections.

I did not say different. In trek, changes to the past change everything. FC changed the past, they showed two folks who would shape the Federation what ships looked like, the shape. That does not make a new reality, but changes made and not changed back stay. So you now have saucer shaped ships pre federation. And ol Zep himself was Involved with the NX project.
You're contradicting yourself here. What is a past that's changed by outside intervention, and stays changed, if not a "new reality"?

And we won't be seeing any Daedalus-class starships because those were all mothballed from service by 2196. I wouldn't mind seeing one in the Fleet Museum, though. It would give the producers a chance to use and modify the NX-style Daedalus variant that popped up online a number of years back and combines design features of both the Daedalus-class starship model seen in Sisko's office on DS9 and the NX-01.
Hmm, sounds cool. I haven't seen that. Got a link perchance?

Might be this one

There was also a ENT Style Daedalus in one of the 'Ships of the Line' calenders, made by Madkoifish

I want to assume some level of continuity and canon. Why should the 1701 have any elements from the Kelvin ships orTMP? There was no contact from JJ to PU. As to TMP,that is ~20 years away and nowhere close to being implemented.

So answer my earlier question, rephrased here: how could they make, say, the NX-01 appear more primitive than the TOS Enterprise, in your opinion?
.

Ok, the thing ypu must understand is TOS is in a whole other art style than any other trek show. They switched in 79 and never wrnt back. Sure they had homage episodes but never designed anything new in the Space age style.

So a few things here. The TOS ship looks cheap, due to low detail, so you must update it. Both ENT, dozens of fans and the Axanar con, updated the textures. You must do so, it needs detail and texture.

Now the only way the NX looks older is to design it in the same style. It needs to fit, once done go with more simplistic textures and larger hull panels, busy but clunky and primative next to the Aztec pattern.

Good style exsamples

For me, I don't mind having the hull plating details or things like that, but I would have wanted the design to look more "stepped back" from the TOS Enterprise. The NX-01 in the series just had some things about it that looked more 24th Century, as opposed to 22nd. I'm not saying it had to look like a dated model, but could have been made to look more primitive.
