Its nothing like that, it just does not fit post NX, as its whole role was supposed to be pre saucer shape. That was always the non-canon stuff, ENT kinda screwed with years of non-canon ship line ups and placed the Saucer pre federation ( which we could blame on the Crew of the E).
You sum up your argument very succinctly here (notwithstanding the obviously debatable assertion that the TOS ship was just an artifact of "atomic age" styling). However, you seem completely unable to grasp that saying something obeys the latest Hollywood trends is not the same as saying it looks futuristic. And it is not inherently a virtue. It in fact does, one art style is dated, one is currently In trend so does not look dated. Trek tossed the Atomic age style in 79. Sure a homage got used here and there, but the show itself did not use that style after TOS. This was because styles changed. This was also why the uniforms from TMP were ditched after, because it was on trend at the time, a few sci-fi movies had something very much like it. But went out of style fast. This statement does not jive with the constant arguing about what looks more "futuristic."
A DSC Klingon ship would look bad anywhere you put it....I mean, look at TOS, if you Put a DSC Klingon in there, it would look off, like a bad photoshop. Because the style clashes.
You're making completely unsupportable broad-brush assertions about the tastes of vast numbers of people. Of course it's much easier to argue your case if you just assume that majorities conveniently share your personal tastes. But I study politics, and making assumptions about the preferences of others without actual evidence is the way to lose elections. Not even Kelvin, which had some very, very retro nods, went with that art style, because it does not sell well to most people. You will always have a subgroup of people who will love it, but that does not mean it will work for a broad base.
You're contradicting yourself here. What is a past that's changed by outside intervention, and stays changed, if not a "new reality"?I did not say different. In trek, changes to the past change everything. FC changed the past, they showed two folks who would shape the Federation what ships looked like, the shape. That does not make a new reality, but changes made and not changed back stay. So you now have saucer shaped ships pre federation. And ol Zep himself was Involved with the NX project.
Hmm, sounds cool. I haven't seen that. Got a link perchance? And we won't be seeing any Daedalus-class starships because those were all mothballed from service by 2196. I wouldn't mind seeing one in the Fleet Museum, though. It would give the producers a chance to use and modify the NX-style Daedalus variant that popped up online a number of years back and combines design features of both the Daedalus-class starship model seen in Sisko's office on DS9 and the NX-01.

Only in the sense that the Reliant is an "inverted Enterprise."It's pretty nice, but it's a bit of a kitbash, inverted Shenzhou.

So answer my earlier question, rephrased here: how could they make, say, the NX-01 appear more primitive than the TOS Enterprise, in your opinion?
.
I like that one a lot.
I like that one a lot.
That model (as opposed to the drawing) would have been outstanding as NX-01. That I could see as a more primitive version, evolving into a Constitution-Class.I would have updated the connie myself, but if you wanted to keep the TOS design, something like this was a must.
Might be this one
There was also a ENT Style Daedalus in one of the 'Ships of the Line' calenders, made by Madkoifish![]()

Except Axanar was using the TOS Connie
They updated its textures. This is a TOS design, but vastly updated
