The fashion world is sexist. And doesn't apply here.guess tyra will be a racist/sexist as well?by knowing what fits the female body type well in a way that looks lovely the most, unless of course as SNW folks, they are going out of their way to make sure uhura does not look ''too'' lovely.
However I am glad she has seen the modern movies and I hope will be a good uhura as zoe was, despite them going out of their wat to make sure she physically looks nothing like Zoe or Nichelle.
Yep. They were casting for a character called "Uhura" not the leads in biopics of Nichols and Saldana. They probably just went for the best actress for the role rather than trying to find someone that looks like 2 different people.
Inverse said:Somewhat appropriately, Gooding has a fresh approach to the Star Trek mythos. In fact, they didn’t grow up watching the old show. As a nine-year-old kid in 2009, Gooding’s first Uhura was Zoe Saldaña in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.
Ridiculous. They probably just went for the best actress for the role rather than trying to find someone that looks like 2 different people.
Well, this makes me feel old![]()
Don't forget the fact there are plenty of new fans for which Star Trek Discovery was their first introduction to Star Trek. There's an entire generation of Trekkies out there for whom ST09 was their childhood introduction to Trek, same way mine was TOS and TNG reruns and DS9 S4/VOY S2!
They don't.yeah I know, no one could possibly like that pale imitation TNG over the original and classic Star Trek.
She has that spark in her eyesOrtegas.![]()
That's amore. That's the moon hitting her eyes.
Jeezus. How I felt reading this:Well, this makes me feel old

I wasn't going to indulge your nonsense any further and derail the thread, but there are some specific accusations made here that need to be addressed:Actually it is not a red flag, sometimes I love how people say they are for diversity, but never listen to the actual diverse people. Malcom X said it best, that part of the problem with the white saviour narrative is that, it is the white man that must still lead, not the black person and I feel this is the case here. please listen to us minorities. we are the ones with the experience of actual racism, the biggest of all has always been, the blonde woman is the definition of beauty and women of color must look like masculine men, so they dont threaten the blonde have more fun woman.
This is the bs trope they have used here.
it is us minorities that are having a issue with what is been done to our POC women, this nonsense stereotype has been there for a long time, that black women should look manly, asexual and unattractive as much as possible even when the actresses are not. we made some progress in the 80s and 90s and 10s, but it looks like the stereotype is back, in the worst ways, where women of color are made to look more like men and are hardly portrayed as 100% feminine.
Also I am a fan of Kerrie marie and hated she was ran off the internet but the movies did her dirty, rose /kerrie is a beautiful girl and they stripped it down in the movie, that was not fair.
Additionally you also dont seem to get it . Lupita is stunning but the difference is that Lupita looks good in low cut hair, black women are a variety of beautiful and we have hair style that showcase that best, what looks good on some, may not look go on others. Lupita and Jada Pinket look good with low cut hair because they have the right facial structure but celia does not, the same way only black women in the 90s looked great in braids like Brandy Norwood when the braid style was huge in the 90s.
In destiny child, Beyonce would have looked awful with low cut hair, unlike Kelly Rowland who looked amazing in it, Black Women know what fits them, Unlike Lupita, SNW has given Ceiia a hair cut that does not fit her face or bone structure because they really want to make her look masculine in every way necessary.
That picture of Laan and Uhura, if not that Celia has a big bust, (breast) I would not be able to tell if that was a woman until I have looked very close but from afar, I can't tell what her gender is. However I can tell Laan is a girl. the fact that i cannot tell with uhura, who is already such an iconic female character, a character screenrant.com even called the best looking female in trek history.
Also look at all the comments here, subconsciously all you are agreeing with me and you dont know it. want to know why?
Many of you have already commented that Chapel looks hot on the Chapel thread, I have yet to see anyone here say Uhura looks Hot as Chapel. so... why is that?
Watch this CBS Tvideo, half of the comment is about womanly and ''hot'' Uhura looks
Not seeing that here and we all know what is going on here, there is an agenda in the media and in Hollywood to erase black physical feminity and this Uhura is their latest victim.
That's amore.
