U.S.S. Kelvin pic! (and more -- large images)

...but I'd have to wonder how the single-nacelle manages to propel the ship without a neighboring nacelle to with which to interact and form an asymmetric field.

Well, perhaps they're ignoring that technobabble altogether.

Yeah, maybe they are. Why they would feel the need to is the question. If it enhances the story, then disregard whatever technobabble necessary. The only thing a single-nacelle ship does for the story, as far as I can tell, is say "Look, this ship is old!" or "This ship is from the relative past!"

Oh - here's something else:

I SEE BLUE!!!!!!!

OMG! :wtf: Is that a fricking "blue warp nacelle"!?!

I think its an over hung deflector dish, with a nacelle underneath the saucer I think.

Still, is there anyone that says there cannot be a deflector dish on the front of a nacelle?

BTW, anyone who saw this on ET, was it a photo, or was it video? Because there are no explosions in this shot like the previous one.

Well, because it's a really really trivial point of non-canon stuff that almost no one has heard of and it probably conflicted with what they wanted the ship to look like.

In TOS fanon, smaller ships such as destroyers have traditionally been single-nacelle ships. If the design team is Trek-savvy, they'd use this to give an impression of a smaller ship to both fans and non-fans.

Fan: "Oh look, it's a destroyer"

Non-Fan: "Oh look, it has less engine thingies. It must be a less powerfuller ship"

Exactly.

Re: U.S.S. Kelvin pic!

Wonder why the Kelvin's registry number has that leading zero. It looks odd, IMHO...should just be NCC-514, methinks.

It's clear to me that Starfleet has changed the registry system. You must be blind or something to not see that it's NCC-OSIA. Duh.

And we've seen one-nacelled ships before (BOBW II), also ones with three (BOBW II, AGT).

The kevin has a lightly colored plated look. Obviously that was expected for new movie ships. The smooth look of the TOS exterior wouldn't fly today

Re: U.S.S. Kelvin pic!

i hope that the Johnny Lighting series is able to do ships from XI. would love to add the Kelvin to my collection.

Re: U.S.S. Kelvin pic!

Oh fucking RIGHTS!! :techman:

I've been waiting so long to see some actual photos of this thing! Awesome. Just Awesome.

It's interesting the way They (JJ & Gang) made the lights on the center console look like the Snake-Armed Viewers from Pike's Era.

It's a little thing, but I like it.

I wonder if that bridge is some kind of simulator..........Still i am totally loving all these new photos, my backside will firmly be seated on a cinema seat on release day for this movie.
As will I. As will all those who say they won't. We KNOW every true fan will be there, I only hope the complainers aren't doing it in the cinema. I'm practicing my backhand just in case.
It looks like it could be a real bridge from OUR future, instead of the 1960s future.
new bridge is going to take some time getting used to. still wondering why Kirk has a black top instead of a gold one. guess he earns it later maybe?
MTV caption says his black shirt is part of the plot.

Good heavens we can only hope. :vulcan:

Wow, I'm the one who actually took that screen shot! (I posted it on Trekmovie.com. Here's my original link: http://i38.tinypic.com/xnrpsm.jpg) But anyway, no it was a still shot. They "zoomed" into it to make it seem moving, but it was clearly a magazine shot.

Has anyone else commented that, besides the bruised face, Kirk has a bandaged left hand in the bridge shot?
