Another Star Trek show set in the "past". Why is everyone so scared to go beyond the familiar characters and look forward?
Because they put these actors and characters in S2 of DSC, and there was an overwhelmingly positive fan response to all of it.
I for one am infinitely more interested in seeing Captain Pike and the
Enterprise than I would be in seeing yet another
Star Trek The NEXT Next Generation series with ships that have Slipstream Multiphasic Warp Drive (but still moves at the speed of plot), more powerful Singularity Torpedoes (but still go "pew pew boom"), and yet another cliched cast filled with Trek tropes like the alien who doesn't understand humanity, the half-race character, and the "How Can We Make This Captain
Really Different" Captain exploring the Andromeda galaxy (but still has the same potential for unknown aliens, bumpy foreheads, weird anomalies, and time travel hijynx).
All things being equal, I'd rather see that formula played out with characters and settings I already know and love.
Hey look on the bright side....you'll have a whole new set of episodes to arbitrarily rate "1" in the forum polls. Good hunting!!
