but this should be the absolute last word in being a full on proper prequel to TOS (ENT a century before, ST09 alternate universe, DISC not the enterprise). I like to imagine it will be more like s4 of ENT..hopefully they'll give Manny Coto a call (and the Garfields)

Edit: SNW to be more episodic like TOS :)

Who needs them when you can have Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman?!

I’ll give it a shot. I didn’t much like Discovery and got just plain bored by Picard to the point I still haven’t finished season one.

I like Mount, so I’ll be cautiously optimistic for now.

Really enjoyed them in Discovery season 2, so I'm definitely on board with this. I'm hoping the rumours of Young Kirk and Uhura additions are true, I loved the 2009 movie and a series with that kind of dynamic would be great.

I’ll be more than fine if they leave the rest of the TOS gang out in favor of new characters.

ugh. Just look at them. Both Spock and Number One should be cool, aloof, exotic. These pretty people are right out of central casting for Melrose Place.
Why doesn't Hollywood cast people who look interesting anymore?

TPTB really need to learn, once and for all, that it isn't the names Enterprise, Kirk, Spock, Pike, etc., that we miss. It's Star Trek.

You do now that's an out-of-character shot, right? The actors goofing around after finishing season 2 filming.

They're already on the second season of this stuff? I thought it hadn't started yet.

Actually, I could take or leave Star Trek. But I definitely dig Kirk, Pike, Spock and the Enterprise.

It's a publicity shot from Season 2 of Discovery. Strange New Worlds hasn't even hit pre-production yet.

I hope they change Spock’s makeup so his skin color more matches Nimoy’s yellowish-green from TOS.

He looks babyfaced as uniform Spock. Looked awesome as hipster Spock, I thought.

Personally I'm not interested. I'll wait for a proper prequel that actually fits with the original series.

Anson Mount's Pike was the ONE thing I actually liked about STD. And yet, I have no faith in the creative team led by Kurtzman. As much as I wanted to love the Picard show, I just couldn't get though it.

I wonder if I've gotten old enough to just not accept Trek past a certain vintage...

Or, maybe those at the reigns now simply don't get the point of Star Trek. I think it's more likely...

I have to admit I liked Mount as Pike but not Peck! He ain't Spock! I prefer Quinto as Spock and that his Spock is legitimately another universe version! :vulcan:

Season 2 of Discovery, which introduced this version of Pike's Enterprise and crew.

Well fuck, Mount looks like he could be related to Hunter. What more do you want?

I mean, Star Trek people are beautiful people because Star Trek is in a futuristic near-utopia where everyone has access to free super-advanced medical care from before they are born and are descended from multiple generations of people with the same opportunities.

It always made sense to hire supermodels and chiseled physiques for Star Trek versus, say, Deadwood or Pirates of the Caribbean or modern stuff like The Wire. Star Trek is one of the only programs where a higher level of attractiveness actually makes sense in-universe. Also, we're dealing with military peeps who have to stay fit and healthy just to keep their jobs and not get killed while fighting Gorn.
