Abraham is nuts! Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
I counted a minimum of 20 dead, which by all rights should constitute severe attrition-- but it depends on how many Negan actually had. For more than 100 Saviors that's a hard blow, but no more than that. And I think we're going to find that the enemy is a lot bigger than they thought. This attack wasn't a failure. They achieved the main objective and caused severe attrition to the enemy's side.

I couldn't identify everyone on Carol's list. Who was the first initial, before K&D? And there was a line after Terminus, "candle something", that I couldn't make out.
Sure it hurt them, like a slap to the face. Losing that many people at once would require reallocation of watches, duty shifts, local gang leaders, etc. Plus the loss of personal friends and connections. They also don't have any more tribute coming in from Hilltop, although they haven't realized that yet. Loss of resources does hurt. The Saviors will feel it.Is it a hard blow? There's just no way any sensible person would think that little raid hurt the Saviors. ...and if that was not a poor strategy, they end up with Maggie and Carol kidnapped right out of the gates.
If it said "candle," could it refer to the candle room at Terminus--which would mean Mary?
Cheers.
If Daryl and the others hadn't met the Saviors on the road already, I'd suspect that they were exactly in the same role. Actually that's probably the reason the encounter was included: to reassure us that wasn't the case. Rick's group may not do this the right way, but we know there are valid reasons for doing it.I'm not saying that slaughtering a bunch of murderous thugs was the wrong thing to do, but all during Rick's address at the church, I was flashing back to The Governor's "we have to get them before they get us" speech from a few seasons back.
