Well we do have a "Starship Class".

I wonder if these are supposed to be retcons to fit the SNW aesthetic, like the Klingon changes, or upgrades to existing ships in-universe?Jörg Hillebrand has been posting the revised DSC ships with their new nacelles on his socials. Interestingly, it looks like most, if not all, don't have the clear domes at the front of their nacelles, just the lights within. It's possible this is a rendering error, or it could be an intentional variation, I guess we'll have to wait to see if we get a closer look at any of them later on.

The Shepard class, seen in its original configuration in season 1 and 2 of StarTrekDiscovery (orthos) has also been refit/updated with new nacelles, as seen in #StarTrekSNW's "Wedding Bell Blues" (1st pic). The USS Gagarin (originally #DIS' "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum"⬆️) can even be identified...

The Hiawatha type, originally created for season 2 of StarTrekDiscovery (2nd pic), also got an update/refit with more traditional nacelles, as can be seen in the screenshots from #StarTrekSNW's "Wedding Bell Blues" (1st pic). I love those red Bussard collectors! :-)

The Malachowski class is the 4th class from season 1/2 of StarTrekDiscovery (orthos) that was updated with more traditional nacelles for #StarTrekSNW's "Wedding Bell Blues". This can best be seen in the top pic in the first collage. I think some pre-refit ships of the class also appear, though...

You mean, are we supposed to act like the ships always had those nacelles, or are they upgrades? Yeah, who knows with CBSTrek.

Yeah I’d like to think that they’ve all been upgraded. We don’t know exactly how long these vessels had the square nacelles prior to the DSC pilot. They could have been like that for a really long time and we’re just now seeing the upgrades being deployed. The Connie’s were probably the first to get the upgrades, or perhaps they were the first to be built with the new engine design. We’ll probably never know the in-universe explanation - nor is it terribly relevant - but I for one am content that the nacelles are starting to finally look “right” (to me, anyway).

And we saw some of these ships with their original nacelles in the Season 1 premier.
Visual evidence suggests refit.
To me at least it kinda looks like they are in the middle of changing the fleet to be more in line with the visual style of tos. they are just gradually upgrading the fleet. Also, another thing to me the ships in the title screen are the crossfield kit bash kinda looks like it would be a warbuilt version of the crossfield, basically take the saucer and make it able to move. Or that's the kinda basic construction that says to me.

Concept art for the new science lab, is that cetacean ops above and below? Sure looks like it.
What do you see in it?
It doesn't appear gleaming, white and pearlescent to me. In STO, players see TMP-era ships alongside regular ships all the time. The TMP-era ones stand out like beacons. I don't see it here with the Nebula class. I might be oblivious, though.
