Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

Season 3

some returning DSC Fed ships with round nacelles. Nimitz, Shepard, Malachowski and Hiawatha-type freighter. There were also a few Crossfield classes that appeared to be unaltered, but hard to tell because they were always far background.

Some new kitbashes scattered about, some used the FauxCrossfield hull from season 2, but with the Connie’s saucer. One had a nebula style mission pod in the opening credits

I also spotted a ship that may be inspired by the FASA Larson design

Spoiler tagged because of all the images

The ship that resembles the FASA Larson class. The main body appears to be made from the Malachowski class

What I think is a new freighter design in the opening credits. I wonder if it will also show up proper in the actual season. It has saucer, it just blends in well with the starbase.

With possibly another one here, just upside down, you can see the saucer a bit easier here. (either that or it's a TOS phaser rifle with nacelles :P)

And yeah, there just appears to be unmodified Crossfields hanging out in the reception scenes. Haven't spotted any in the exterior shots

There's also this long slender ship on the left in the opening space shot of the episode

Speaking of ships in the first episode in season 3 there is this thing

It looks like someone gave the Federation a ram ship. It looks like it should ram ships. Perhaps that is armour or something but it loos weird
Mentioned this in the tech thread, but thought I would show it here, from the season 3 episode 1 it just looks funky

The design first appeared in Season 2.

The texture in the scene you posted appears to be messed up

Looks a lot better in Season 2

Ah... I had rewatched season 1, but have not had the chance to rewatch season 2.. still looks funky

The Kelcie Mae type vaguely reminds me of the deep space science vessels from Star Trek Online, which may have been designed by the same guy who did the MC75 class star cruiser from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

the Trident is based off concept art John Eaves did for the pre-Cryptic STO.

It's one of the few designs from the Pre-Cryptic version of the STO that made it over.

VFX Supervisor Biran Tatosky is saying on mastadon that the new designs in the opening credits did not get approval from the VFX team and they do not show up in the rest of the season, but he did say he might get them into Season 5 if he can.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world bothered by how the pennant on the engineering section is sliding down the hull in the opening titles.

Oh, that's weird as hell. I guess I see how it happened, if the pennant is a totally separate object from the main hull (and it looks like there's a similar issue with the "window boxes" in the neck sticking out through the hull slightly, I've had that happen to me before). And it's the season 1 version of the ship.

But the thing that bothers me, and still hasn't been fixed, is the planets in the last shot that slow to a stop after the ship warps away, then speed back up again once it starts fading to back. I assume the shot ended up short and they lengthened it in the edit, but they've revised the title sequence twice and still haven't fixed it properly.

It's an optical illusion. I noticed the same thing on a model I built. It's just the way that the hull slopes, makes it look like it's drooping.

*Edit*

Wait.... nevermind. Now I see what you mean. Yeah, that's a fuck up.
