Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

Seeing as it's gonna be a little while till we get anything new from Strange New Worlds, I figured it might be a good time to discuss what we might hope to see in the future.

Anything in particular we want to see from the Enterprise? We finally got a peek at the Shuttlebay...

And even a look inside a Nacelle...

What might we get in season 3? I'd love to get a look at the armory. I'm picturing something similar to what was found on board the NX-01. Perhaps it will be a modernized version of the Phaser control room seen in Balance of Terror.

In regards to ships, of course I'd like to see more Federation ships. We got to see what may have been a non spore drive Crossfield...

and the Kelcie Mae...

Plus a few more looks at Farragut and Archer type ships. We also got to see a larger shuttle, similar to a Runabout...

In regards to Alien starships, one really cool new addition was the Orion science vessel...

Clearly based of the TOS Remastered Orion ship. Hopefully we get to see more interesting alien designs in the coming season. I'd love to see more updated looks at TOS era designs, plus I hold out hope for a TOS era version of my favourite Klingon design, the Bird of Prey. We won't talk about the version from Discovery, which I didn't care for, dispite liking some of the other Disco Klingon ships.

So yeah, let's try and keep this thread alive while we wait the long wait between seasons.

It was a kitbash made by the Klingons. It just some how snuck into an early scene (albeit mostly obscured and upside down)
Yeah, it was a kitbash, but it was still close enough that Mitchell thought it was a Crossfield. I rather like the design and hope to see it again as a genuine Starfleet ship.

There was the other one, ostensibly identical, docked at the Starbase. This would indicate that it is in fact a viable ship class, which of course makes it more complicated.

For my money, SNW has just about sufficiently diverged from Discovery's visuals in terms of ships (both interior and exterior) as well as resetting the Klingon appearance etc, that they might as well both be considered Crossfield Classes with equal validity.

Or DSC and SNW actually take place in different, albeit similar, continuities.

Maybe.

Or it's just different tellings of the same universe.

Sorry, that's what I was trying to get across when I said they have equal validity. It's all just different visual storytelling approaches.

Although personally I'm rather partial to the SNW Crossfield - it's a rather nifty looking thing, and fits nicely into the fleet of Archers, Farraguts and Connie's.

Agreed. It makes it more fun to see that as people retelling parts of the Trek universe from their point of view. It appeals to the desire for interconnectivity as many Trek fans cling to and allow for variation.

Study of history shows that many stories are told and retold with variations throughout the telling. Star Trek is no exception.

I rather like to too, especially the version seen in the cave, with the saucer gap filled in. I'd like to see more of it someday.

If taken to its logical conclusion I find this argument quickly becomes absurd. Is Star Trek: The Motion Picture in a different universe to TOS? After all, it changed the look of virtually everything from the Enterprise herself through to the Klingons, introduced the concept of a warp core as a fundamental component of warp drive and reversed Matt Jefferies' original intent that nacelles were self-contained engines and power plants, and all but reversed any character development Spock had in accepting his humanity. Is VOY in a different universe to TNG because it retconned the whole history of the Borg and the Federation? Is the TNG episode "The Host" in a different universe to DS9 because the nature and look of Trills are different? Where does this end? Are individual scenes we don't like to be consigned to alternate realities?
