Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

So in the next series of Strange New Worlds when Spock uses the Force to prevent a warp core breach because it's something he learned while a student at Hogwarts that's all fine because it's all made up too, right?
Yes, because ESPers are a thing in Star Trek.

More on point, it's the idea that the word has taken on a new life in the space future, and refit apparently means something than what we would expect.

Is it stupid? Yeah. But I'll work with it otherwise I'll ignore the whole thing and pretty much be done with Star Trek because the stupidity is distracting sometimes with it.

Nope.

The Stargazer-A and the Titan-A are clearly new ships. They were not refitted from previous ships with those names, like the TMP Enterprise was.

You're misunderstanding my point; I'm actually agreeing with you. I just hate the "it's not real so it doesn't matter if they make mistakes or contradict themselves" argument.

Well, good to know Hogwarts survives for at least another 300 years. I'll bet Spock's a Ravenclaw.

That is not my point. My point is words take on a life of their own, and so the misuse or redefinition of a term in fictional narrative means taking that term as presented and working with it, not "it doesn't matter." I mean, ultimately, it doesn't but that doesn't stop our speculation :)

Reminds me a bit of this:
When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.”

I imagine so, yes.

That's a darn coherent design for a "kitbash."
Yeah, that looks way to nice to be some peice of crap the Klingons just randomly threw together. That's a rather nice looking Starship.

*it also has a couple design elements ripped straight from the Constitution refit. Namely the aft Torpedo launcher and the Impulse Deflection Crystal.

and the Impulse Deflection Crystal.
Pretty sure they took that design cue from the NX-01's Warp Governor.
Considering the impulse engines it is between are identical in design to the NX-01's outside of colour.

The Entire aft section looks like it was inspired by the NX-01/Refit.

Perhaps, but I'd definitely say it leans closer the the Constitution refit inln terms of appearance. Regardless, it's a cool detail, no matter the where the design cue came from.

The NX-01's warp field governor looks like it was based on the refit Enterprise's impulse deflection crystal. Which is possibly a retcon for the refit Enterprise – "impulse deflection crystal" was never defined on screen, and a number of 25th century ships have very similar structures that have been explicitly listed as warp field governors by their production teams.

I really like the out there designs in the third and, especially, fourth images, I hope they're reused in the future.

Thanks, these are frikkin' awesome!
Also a much more reasonable shuttle-bay size

I actually like the last version the most, but the chosen one is definitely the right choice by invoking the TOS shuttle so much.

In fact, I think the shuttle is a much better "modern update" than the Discoprise itself - I really wish they would have done another go at that as well. But alas, happy with what we got.

I, too like the TOS vibes coming from the SNW shuttle. How they managed to take the basic shapes and surfaces of the original design and make something that is both new and yet familiar, it's just really impressive to me. They're easily my favorite shuttle design now (Sorry, Voyager Class 2!)
