I know it's "Officially" classified as a corvette, but it really is designed to be operated by 1 person with the fire power of a Battle Ship and literally only has 2 people on board.

I literally told you what the name of the ship was in the "Spoiler" and where it's from, what series it's from.
Yes...it was rhetorical. It looks ridiculous, not "Where it is from?" More, why does it look like that?
It's part of the design aesthetic of the SpaceShips in Nadesico.
Especially since they always have the main "Gravity Blast" Cannons mounted on the front.

I still think the design is ridiculous.
I can't even begin to describe my disappointment in watching this series and discovering how the battleship worked. It was less than appealing.^^^

There’s one out there for the Andromeda as well. Probably my all time favorite anime. The one that really started it all. Sure there was Marine Boy, Speed Racer, Gatchamen and Kimba before that, but Yamato was the Grandfather Anime that many others that came later seemed to try to emulate (Robotech/Macross comes to mind here). The recent SBY 2199+ series are how a reboot should be done.^^^

I think that's also the Peregrine. The nacelles and pylons are bent, the lights aren't on, and there's a blue glow coming from the Enterprise that might be a tractor beam. The Enterprise has pulled her back off the surface.
Why would "the suits" be involved with naming a ship? Seems a bit below their paygrade

HMS Peregrine Galley was a 20-gun sixth-rate ship of the Royal Navy, built in 1699-1700 at Sheerness Dockyard by Master Shipwright William Lee to a design by Rear-Admiral the Marquis of Carmarthen.
Bird names are the best. When designing a ship class for original fiction one was all bird names.
I kind of assumed that was the 2nd connie salvaged at the end of the episode...
There's also the USS Eagle NCC-956, which was a Constitution-class vessel. I don't know why "Peregrine" would be any more unusual, especially since there's been a few naval vessels named as such.
We don't talk about those...
