Some people do. It helps in understanding the purpose of the art. Context, etc.

Everyone should, they're TPTB, they control the canon and lore.

Until someone else comes along and changes it to suit whatever story they're trying to tell. ‘Canon’ has really become a meaningless concept. So I’m free to think whatever I like about this fictional world.

    Demonstrably wrong.

Well, certainly a great many more people than are interested in the opinion of a poster on a Trek forum.

So CBS doesn't get to say what's canon?

It's good then that my opinion matters only to me. Or does my opinion matter to you as well?

    Can't deny that.
Actual noises would have involved at least one curmudgeonly TOS purist, a rotisserie handle, and some extremely disrespectful mechanical modifications to the grave site.

The purpose of the art is to ride on the economic coattails of a previously popular property.

Rear torpedo launches next to the impulse engines!

And the bridge angle debate is solved :D

Yeah I posted those diagrams in the DSC Section when the model came out.

"These do not glow", they glow on the STO model, I wonder if the DSC model ignored those instructions (just like the pylons). I'd have to look at Season 2 screencaps, but I don't remember if we ever saw the ship from below.

After looking at that for the first time in awhile, I can definitely say that I prefer the slanted pylons we currently have. With the shortened neck, those straight pylons just make it seem even more squat. It doesn't scream "fast ship" to me. More like, someone put a box on top of it. Much like a model I had back in 93. Thanks mom.

Agreed. I think a lot of fans prefer the upright pylons in this version simply because the TOS Enterprise had them. Doesn't mean it works in this version of the design. I prefer the slanted as well. Hell, Im just totally in love with the SNW Enterprise. I'll never use the silly Discoprise term, it's just the Enterprise.

I prefer TOS Enterprise to the DSC or SNW version.

While I love the TOS Enterprise (first love all that) the pylons look bad. The SNW is not better but it at least helps with the pylons. Honestly, a mash up of the TOS, TMP and SNW would be my preference to at least make it feel more real.

I prefer the TOS ship to all others - with caveats. It is not the most well-designed or even well thought-out of the ships (Probert's various designs win those awards). It is not the most plausible or realistic. But it was first.

It created the mold that we've clung to for the last 56 years.

Except now we’re supposed to believe that it never actually existed, and the Discoprise was the real thing. Even though other new Trek shows being produced by the same company don’t follow this logic.
