Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

I think I just might be too old for this shit

I've read reviews on the Mandolorian stating how it's very much like a live action cartoon. You get a brief setup, action, then the end. Occasionally you get silly stuff like the scout troopers. This is very much like the Trade Federation droids in the Clone Wars. They were comic relief more often than an actual obstacle for Obiwan and Anakin.

Don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed the Mandolorian, but I can understand people who might not. It's nowhere near as clever as most scifi shows IMHO.

Just finished watching it. That was a hell of a finale, except for one thing. The Mandalorians, or Cara do not know about Luke and what he and his compatriots did to end the war? I would have thought the Jedi would have been common knowledge by now. Hell, does anyone they talk to know about Yoda?

Other than that that was fun action and a very nice ending to the season. I also loved the two stormtroopers at the beginning. That was hilarious.

There were a lot of Rebels. Sure, Luke was a hero in the Alliance, but how many of them actually saw him do any of that fancy Jedi sorcery?

But the stories of their exploits would have spread like wildfire. Ok, some of it might be exaggerated, but ending this long war and bringing down the Empire should have been front page news all over the galaxy.

The Rebels destroyed the second Death Star. There's little need to tell everyone about how one of the heroes was the bad guy's son, or about the drama that played out in the throne room.

I'll go with no. Luke never seems to discuss Yoda with anyone else.

Maybe, but it would take time if the Imperials controlled the news, even for a time. Plus, people will be less concerned about the details and more about the heroes.

I agree when it comes to the general public, but Cara herself was in the Rebellion. She must’ve heard something about Luke being a Jedi and wielding the force. Maybe she didn’t believe the stories at the time, but after seeing baby Yoda do his thing, something had to have clicked. Then again, maybe it did and she’s just tight lipped.

I still don't understand the love for this show. It starts by making fun of star wars in a full on parody way. Then it goes into nonsense Rambo action where a few people take in an army head on and win. It's old school nonsense. Why do people like it so much??

Would you like an essay? Or could you for once just accept people differ from each other and some people actually like stuff you don't. And vice versa.

I think that Cara should’ve known a little bit about the Jedi and the force and all of that. She was a Rebel spec ops soldier. The Rebellion didn’t have all that many personnel. Word must’ve gotten around about Luke.
What would she really "know" though? That there's some lucky hot shot pilot that carries around some old relic of a weapon and claims to be descended from some obscure religious order? And towards the end, the rebellion had ranks in the tens of thousands at least. After Yavin they had enough that they attempted (and failed) to actually take and hold ground all through the midrim. Plus, she was a drop trooper, Luke was a fighter pilot and they were probably in different cells, so it's not like they necessarily ever met.

The Jedi became "all but extinct" about 28 years before this series. If Cara is the same age as the actress that plays her, she'd have been about 9 or 10 when the Jedi were purged.

At 9 or 10 I was still believing in Bigfoot and Nessie. This little girl from the core world of Aldarran may never have seen a Jedi and may not remember much of pre Imperial life. She probably joined the Rebellion at age 28 after the destruction of her home world.

I can see thinking more people should know more about Jedi because the Jedi were all purged during these people's lifetime. We don't know how many people paid attention to galactic politics and knew about the Jedi originally. We don't know how many Jedi there were. 1 per star system? Less? Were they more or less active in the core systems?

28 years ago? Right after the collapse of the Soviet Union. How many common people do you meet today that can tell you much about the KGB? All they know about Chernobyl (granted, a few years earlier) is what they read in books or research on media. How many would recognize Monica Lewenski or even recall her role in history?

Oh, sure, we remember. We lived through those times and we have the internet to refresh our recollection. If the world government suppressed that information, maybe people would think those were myths.

"I’ve flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe there’s one all-powerful Force controlling everything. There’s no mystical energy field controls my destiny! It’s all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense."

Amazing how the one Tie fighter battle was more thrilling than a thousand ships showing up in the movie. A little bit of fan service is handed out bit by bit with this series. Less really is more as my attention is all on one thing.

I always need validation for my own opinions, so I can always provide reasons for things I like.
