The Clone Wars and Rebels - A First Timer's Thread

I am a little iffy on Ahsoka’s Rebels look though. I think I like the clone wars look better. Not a big thing but noticeable.
Well, when you last saw her she was about 16 or 17, and this is at least another 15 or 16 years later, so she's easily in her early 30's by now. Ashley has also adjusted her vocal performance a little to show her more mature, balanced and focused attitude. She still has that signature wry edge, but it's been tempered. So, yeah, it takes a while to get used to this version of her.

James Earl Jones as Vader in Rebels in my opinion sounds a lot better than he did in Rogue One. I don't know if that is because of whatever voice filter they used, or what.

Season 2 Spoilers
Also something else, they redubbed the Emperor in the Season 2 Episode 2 with Ian McDiarmid (it was Sam Witwer before), but that's not on Disney+ version, only in the Pre-Disney+ streaming services versions.

Finally watching Rex's premiere episode on Rebels. I'm so happy they brought Rex over and keeping in continuity from Clone Wars. I'm especially liking Kanan's fear of being betrayed again, which is why he doesn't trust Rex. Having consequences to Order 66 15 years after it happened is really an added bonus of following both of these shows.

There's actually a 12 issue comic that covers Kanan/Caleb's experience around the events of Order 66. Short version: he and Deppa had their own "Rex/Cody" type they were close to and well...you can probably guess what happened.
I kind of like it.
Well it looks like someone uploaded the whole thing to youtube, so go nuts! ;)
I might give it a go at some point too, if only to see how it holds up and whether I actually end up remembering a specific episode.

The Rebels got a new ship with a fire cannon that reminds me of the ship from B5's Spin Off series Crusade, and Hera got a promotion. This series really is doing great on the character development department. I still wish Sabine was more than just there, especially since there is so much backstory on the Mandalorians up to this point. Still, the last few episodes have just been fine (Even though I liked seeing Hondo again), this episode was one of the better ones of the season so far.

Ah yes, the B-wing prototype. A lot of the backstory presented there pays homage to the West End Games Star Wars Roleplaying Game. In fact Rebels plays a lot of homages to that roleplaying game, since even the cast structure (six characters with a light freighter) is basically like a standard roleplaying group for that game.

The B-wing was always suppose to be the Alliance's anti-ship fighter. The old roleplaying game has it designed to engage frigates, which were the main threat to the usual X-wing and Y-wing hit and fade convoy attack groups. Their role in Return of the Jedi was to be taking out an Imperial Star Destroyer.

We finally got a Sabine episode and it was very good. Really do like that Ketsu Onyo character and hope we haven't seen the last of her. I wonder if Ezra was speaking for the audience at the time this aired saying that Sabine always seemed to do everything alone, which is why the show really hasn't focused on her very much. We finally get one that does focus on her and that's basically all I was asking for. Also nice to see R2 again.

In about 2 seconds this series just explained why Stormtroopers have terrible aim. I know they were pretty much used as cannon fodder, but the whole idea that the helmets gave them terrible vision kind of makes sense and I never thought of it before.

The episode where Rex and Kanan have to team up to rescue Ezra and his crew is all kinds of fun. Love their banter

Also, Chopper might be my favorite droid in Star Wars, even surpassing R2D2 (Never was a fan of C3PO, as he complained too much).

Is there a significance to Ahsoka's White Lightsabers? I knew they were coming but I thought that was going to be a storyline.

Yup. In A New Hope, when Luke says "I can't see a thing in this helmet" supposedly that line was simply Hamil's comment on trying to work in the costume.

Everything about the Imperial military from stormtroopers to TIE fighters revolves around the notion of overwhelming force. Or put another way: quantity over quality. That's why TIEs are only slightly more capable than a cargo crate with a set of blasters and engines welded to them, it's why stormtrooper armor is mostly for show & doesn't actually protect them from much of anything, and why the E-11 is a piece of crap blaster that even an expert marksman would struggle to land a decent shot with. Unlike the clone troopers, Stormtroopers are not specially bred elite soldiers put through rigorous training, they're barely trained conscripts. Very very disposable conscripts.

The colour itself? It's a bit ambiguous. Indeed the inherent "meaning" (if any) behind the colour of any saber is dubious at best. The only thing that's concrete is that dark side users can only make red blades, because of the way they corrupt and dominate their crystals; "bleeding" them. Whereas using the light side, the process of bonding a crystal so it can be used in a saber is more sympathetic and the end result is in some way an expression on that unique bond.

Just watched the episode where Ahsoka, Ezra, and Kanan go visit the Jedi Temple on Lothal to find out why the inquisitors keep tracking them and man what a gut punch. All three storylines were emotional, but when Ahsoka finds out Anakin is Vader and she screams and you see the tear, man someone give her a hug. We have really only checked in with Ahsoka a few times this season (She's mostly been a background character) but that scene brought back all those jarring memories of when Ahsoka left the order and Anakin is watching her go off.

I also just found out Sarah Michelle Geller is the voice of one of the inquisitors. I didn't even recognize the voice, even though she was kinda "perky" in Buffy. I should have been able to recognize the voice.
