The best episode of TNG - Final Part

Another vote for The Wounded. It's a great episode, but if I'm honest I like it slightly less than I do the other episodes left on the list.

Wounded gets the axe - I enjoyed it least of all.

Sorry to see The Wounded go. I was hoping to get in a vote for Yesterday's Enterprise first, but I guess I'll start the round with it this time. The others (excepting BOBW, which has always been a classic) are episodes I've grown to appreciate more and more as I've gotten older and rewatched them. YE, on the other hand, has lost some of the excitement it used to have.

I'm voting for The Measure of a Man although it was the first truly great episode of the series, it probably isn't the greatest episode of the series. To my mind it's the weakest of the remaining stories. The Picard/Riker conflict works well, but the set up for it feels a little artificial and forced. Though that's an incredibly minor quibble about an otherwise strong episode that was probably the first time that TNG really showed what it could do.

Yesterday's Enterprise - definitely the least fond of that episode considering the other choices still available. I could never quite see the appeal of that episode. Granted, it's good, but not extraordinary...

I would vote for The Inner Light again, but good points have been made about Yesterday's Enterprise. I never did get the adulation it receives. So, it's booted.

I'm going to ruffle some feathers and vote for The Best of Both Worlds I. I always found the pacing of this episode to be uneven, the Riker/Shelby storyline irritating, and the confrontation with the Borg aboard the cube just came off as silly to me, with the Borg dropping like flies before adapting to the phasers. In my humble opinion, Part II was far greater and only the cliffhanger of Part I was truly excellent stuff.

Of these, I guess I have to go for "The Measure of a Man." It's a great episode, but the pacing isn't always the best, and it has a little bit of that S2 clunkiness still.

I gotta vote for the Measure of a Man. Great episode, but at the end of it, it's just another courtroom drama. Some great character moments, but they're spread around. BoBW and IL are better.

With a heavy heart I'm eliminating The Measure of a Man as I've already said: It was the first truly great episode of the series, but that doesn't necessarily make it the greatest episode of the series. To my mind it's the weakest of the remaining stories.

A vote for "The Inner Light." I like it, but as an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, it's definitely an off-format hour, since it sidelines almost the entire cast except for Patrick Stewart.

Another vote for The Inner Light, for the same reasons as Harvey. BOBW is a true ensemble piece and a magnificent piece of Star Trek lore, not just a showcase for Patrick Stewart.

With a heavy heart, I must eliminate The Inner Light.

It's a great episode, it shows Picard's character well and allows him to have something he never had, but it is an episode about one character.

The Best of Both Worlds, allows everyone to shine (especially when viewed as a two parter). It has a great cliffhanger - the greatest, I'd say - lots of action and plot twists that no one saw coming.

Well, I missed the last five rounds of voting, I am not surprised that The Best of Both Worlds won, though I am not sure that's how I would have voted. Fun Game. Thanks Bluestuff, :)

So, Best of Both Worlds I is the winner. Not necessarily my choice for best of the series, but that's the nature of the game. Thanks for playing everyone, if anyone would care to join me, I'll be taking the game to the DS9 board.

Fantastic game. Thanks so much for running it, it was a lot of fun. I'd love to come over to the DS9 thread, but my memories of some of the episodes will probably be far to hazy to be useful.
