The Most Disliked Episode of DISCO, Finals - 2025 Edition...

I also grieve the saving of "Perpetual Infinity." Of the 959 episodes/movies released in this franchise to date, "Perpetual Infinity" is my clear dead last. I consider it the single worst unit of entertainment this franchise has produced in 60 years. This episode contains absolutely nothing of any merit. It's just an hour of grinding plot mechanics as they torturously try to beat their disaster of a season arc into something, and they fail completely. It has no saving graces of any kind. I can't think of so much as a single line of dialogue that was worth hearing.

Meanwhile, I can't believe how long I've been voting for "What's Past Is Prologue"! But here we go again. :bolian:

"Vaulting Ambition" - 0
"What's Past is Prologue" - 3

Final vote is for Vaulting Ambition.

Despite its short runtime, I prefer the continuation rather than the conclusion of the MU arc.

Vaulting Ambition" - 1
"What's Past is Prologue" - 3

"What's Past is Prologue." At least it gets them out of the MU. Which makes "Vaulting Ambition" the so-called winner, I believe.

And "Vaulting Ambition" wins DISCO for this year's Most Disliked Episode game. (I was truly hoping for a season 2 episode to win, as it is the second worst season in the entire franchise. But season 1 of DISCO is the third worst season in the franchise, so I can settle or that.)

Thank you all for playing! I will start PICARD very shortly. Hope to see you all there!

(There seems to be only 5 of us voting in the DISCO Finals... kind of a damning indictment on just how bad and unpopular this show is.)

Or maybe it's just a silly little game that's gone around so many times that nobody cares anymore.

It is a silly game that has gone around several times (and it's meant to be fun and a bit silly), yet you can find quite a few people participating in TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT.

There just seems to be fewer and fewer people who bother with DISCO. (I just looked at the 2021 and 2023 Finals for DISCO, and it's only 7 or 8 people total both times, and that was while the show was still active. Now, only a year and a half after it ends, it's down to only 5 people. I have heard it mentioned before that DISCO will be forgotten by people more than the others before it... and this seems to lend credence to that idea.)

~ I'm one of those who loves this silly game - no matter how many times it goes round. :D
I couldn't play this DISCO game, though, as other than a few design choices, a handful of background characters, and most of two S2 episodes ("New Eden" and "If Memory Serves"), I don't really like anything about it. I've only watched seasons 1-3 once and don't wish to revisit them or watch any more. Other than the two previously mentioned eps, I don't remember what happens in each ep and only have a vague idea of the season-long story arcs, so I didn't think it was fair to play (and I would have had to read the synopses on Memory Alpha to do so).
I won't be playing the Picard game for pretty much the same reasons (except there aren't any eps that I like), but I'm looking forward to the game coming around to LDS, SNW, the Berman Era shows, and the themed episodes again!

I'm glad you enjoy them! That's the point... for everyone to enjoy and have fun!

I totally get why you wouldn't bother with DISCO.

Once the PICARD Most Disliked game is concluded, it will be LOWER DECKS, then PRODIGY, then SNW, and finally the movies (which will be done entirely as if it was a Finals for a series).

I actually like having the mix... some where it's really intense with a lot of players and flies by in two hours, along with the ones where it takes awhile and we only have a few of the most hardcore chipping away at it for a week or two.

When I'm running the themed games in General Trek, I'm even trying to create that cadence. I'll alternate the more popular games with the more niche-appeal lists so that we don't just keep getting faster and faster.

Thinking about the game programming is bringing me back to my occasional musing of: could I ever run a game that is "The Most Disliked Star Trek Episode Or Movie" that starts with every single episode of the whole franchise just all thrown in together? @Farscape One always tells me its a terrible idea. I admit it may very well be. But I might try it someday anyway.
:bolian:

Edit: Now I'm wanting to do it just to see all the titles alphabatized. Finally, all the episodes that start with "The" grouped together!

Hmm. Maybe it would be more manageable if the gameplay was: just post what episode you are saving and why, but without cut-and-pasting the whole list into every single post. Then once I day, I could update and repost the master list to reflect the last 24 hours of saves.

I would have participated in this, as someone with a soft spot for Discovery (as far as live action nutrek goes, I prefer someone doing their own thing in a clunky way to someone competently playing the hits), though admittedly Discovery episode names I tend to forget. Happy to see Galactic Barrier here for season 4.
