I'll vote for "Ensign Ro". Certainly a very good episode, but I don't think it belongs with those remaining, which I consider the absolute cream of the TNG crop. Though "Darmok", "Tapestry", "Chain of Command II" and "All Good Things..." deserved to be among them in the first place.

If I had to expand on my reasons, Riker is a huge jerk in this episode.

It's getting to be quite hard to make choices here. However, I'd say that there are two episodes that are less deserving of being here than the others. One of those is Redemption, Part I and the other is Ensign Ro. They're both very strong episodes, but not quite as strong as the others in this list, so rather than knock one of them out I'll put them back on an equal footing and vote for Redemption, Part I.

Wow this is getting impossible. I'm voting to eliminate The Wounded. Great episode. It is very, very close, and I almost couldn't decide. What gave my vote to this episode was the fact that Ben Maxwell could have been written to articulate his reasons a bit better than "just board the ship and you'll have proof", "I can feel it in my gut", etc.

In the light of this, and I intend no pun here, I cast my vote for The Inner Light. I'm not going to argue for a moment that it's a great, great character piece for Picard - but looking beyond that, it falls flat. At the end of the day, what makes me watch Star Trek is characters and plots framed with delightful Science Fiction, and said frame just fell woefully short in this episode - I'd go as far as to quote what someone put on it elsewhere: we're watching Picard watching a movie.
