Spoilers The Acolyte

So train Sheev on gains and this whirlwind style of fighting, than die to poisonous protein shake?

Qimir probably gets whacked so that Plagueis can keep all the midichlorians-creating-Force-sensitive-life knowledge for himself, and he might even recruit Osha to off Qimir and then take his place as the apprentice. That's probably the direction I'd take if I were writing it.

It is still something like a hundred years to The Phantom Menace. Dude be super old for a human to train Sheev.
It's within the realms of possibility I think. Lucas always said that Palpatine was around 100 years old during RotJ. That only places him being born 30-ish years (give or take) after Acolyte, and despite what the EU said, I've always been of the firm belief that Palpatine offed Plagueis as soon as he could, so when he was still in his 20's, if not earlier. That would put "The Stranger" more or less in his 80's, which is about the same age Palpatine was when he took on Vader as an apprentice.

Either way, he'd be way younger than creepy Muun person! ;)

I'm sure I read somewhere that Qimir was actually meant to be leading in to the knights of the ren or whatever they were called as they deliberately reused some sequel film score in the acolyte. So he could ditch Plaguey and baldy and found his own force club with blackjack and hookers.

I'm not sure that's true.

So I guess I never noticed this before but is Qimir supposed to be using Force healing on Osha? Or is it more along the lines of reaching out to assess her injury?

Yeah, given the heavy implication that he was Vernestra's former apprentice, it's pretty much unthinkable that he'd be going under his real name.
Personally, I've been assuming that the eventual twist would have been that he's actually Plagueis, and the creepy Muun in the cave was a red herring (or just Tenebrous.)

It would line up with his interest in the midichlorian manipulation that created the twins, and his familiarity with toxins feels it suits the name a little better. Doubly ironic if Palpatine ultimately offs him in his sleep (presumably with poison.)

Definitley implied he was her padawan. ALso, she is of a long lived species, so Qimir was from a long time ago.... but perhaps his Dark Side powers kept him young all this time (kinda like some poeple think that Palpatine had hidden/changed his form all this time, and the force lightning merley made Palpatine revert to his "natural" form.

And i sur edo like your theory.

Just because Palpatine relayed th estory, doesn't mean all the details wer etrue....and what we know of Palpatine's master (and his master's master)...how much is truly "canon"?

It's possible.... he has both Jedi & Sith powers/training. He himself seemed to imply he was something in the middle.... maybe a little like Skoll?

Even though he says it's a long time ago, I don't think it was really that long in the grand scheme of things. I don't get the impression we're not seeing his true form.

Well just because Vern is over a century old doesn't mean that "The Stranger" is any older than he looks, so whatever happened couldn't have been more than a decade or two prior.

As for Palpatine; yeah, he's pretty much the ultimate unreliable narrator. I'm sure there's some aspect of truth in what he said, given he seems genuinely amused with himself in the moment. The assumption that he was the apprentice that murdered Plagueis in his sleep seems like a safe one. Of course if they ever get around to telling the canon version of that story, there would doubtlessly be additional circumstances and contexts that one might not anticipate. (I mean if not then why even bother?)
Another interpretation is that Palpatine could have been Osha's acolyte and she has him kill Plagueis (whomever Plagueis turns out to be) and then he doubtlessly turns around and betrays her too. A little needlessly complicated if you ask me, but not impossible.
Force healing is the impression I got. Of course, nowadays I retcon Obi-Wan doing that to Luke when he's wounded and knocked unconscious by the Sand People and he has to revive him.
It's not much of a retcon considering the original script seems to be at least implying something like that. Not explicitly, but the stage direction does specify that Ben puts his hand on Luke's forehead, and then he comes to.
Another interpretation is that he's merely sensing his injuries though the force, but the fact that Luke more or less immediately wakes up from what was probably a concussion seems to imply a little more.
