Spoilers The Acolyte

Well, that stinks. I liked the show, but didn't love it. Lots of cool moments, a few odd choices here and there.

But I would have loved to see more of the Stranger in another season.

So it's too bad this is gone while the catastrophically lousy Ahsoka will definitely be back and while Disney keeps shoveling mountains of Mando content no matter how much the quality of that property has fallen off.

At least "The Acolyte" was trying.

Star Wars Acolyte: The Ending

Qimir: Hmm, I sense a presence... a presence I haven't felt since... Master!

[Darth Plagueis enters the room, Qimir kneeling before hm]

Qimir: Master.

Plagueis: I am most impressed to see you have survived Vernestra's lightwhip.

Qimir: I have used your training, Master. And I have built all this in hopes of returning to your side.

Plagueis: Hmm... how unfortunate that you are attempting to deceive me. You have become... A RIVAL!

(Plagueis kills Osha)

Osha: Qimir, I am an unworthy apprentice. I'm not like you. I never was.

Plagueis: Remember, the first and only reality of the Sith. There can only be two! And you are no longer my apprentice. You have been replaced! (Darth Sidious appears next to Plagueis and uses Sith lightning to fry Qimir)

Qimir: Have mercy... please, please!

Plagueis: There is no mercy. (Plagueis and Sidious kill Qimir)

So the second best Star Wars show gets cancelled, but Andor and Ahsoka get a second season. We could be getting more of the show with interesting characters in a (from a TV perspective) rarely explored era, but instead we get to see more of a lobotomized Ahsoka sleep walking her way through a Rebels live action spin off along side more of a terrible generic spy show that could easily just be set on Earth with very little changes to the script.

I'm sure that horrible Goonies rip off will also get multiple seasons. At this point The Mandalorian and that (I think still happening) Daisy Ridley movie are literally the only Star Wars things that I have any interest in seeing.

I'm still invested in the Filoniverse because there's an unfinished storyline there. But the same could be said of Andor and The Acolyte. I wanted to see more of Qimir. (And maybe Plagueis learning to create life by studying Osha's cellular material.)

Sad that The Acolyte was canned but given they killed any cast member I was vaguely interested in, apart from Qmir, I'm not that cut up about it. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either (oddly I'd say it was better put together than Ashola but I think I liked Ashoka more)

I feel a need to point out that, despite the widespread reporting on this and the general credibility of the outlets doing so, it's not actually official until/unless Lucasfilm makes an announcement about it directly, which they haven't done.

As one of the relatively few SW shows I've really enjoyed, that absolutely sucks.

However, as they'd killed most of the cast there's opportunity to continue the threads in other shows in that period - the twins, Vernestra, Qmir and Plaguis would presumably feature in the overlying arc.

You do realize how everyone's going to react to this post when that announcement is made, right? At this point it's like you're actively seeking out the chance to be proven wrong.

As the other SW show I really like is Ahsoka, which looks like being derailed by both the loss of the fantastic Ray Stevenson and going off towards the awful Mortis crap from Clone Wars I'm not hopeful for my continued interest in the franchise.

But are they at all likely to actually do other shows in that period? If they were so inclined, why not just do an Acolyte S2?

Or they'll migrate to comics like Qi'ra did.
