Spoilers The Acolyte

Yeah, that would make far more sense. I do recall it being referred to as such in Dooku: Jedi Lost (it was one of the first references to it IIRC) in a section set during Dooku's young adulthood, which lines up with that timeframe.

Which certainly begs the question; what the hell happened around that time for everyone to look about and say: -
"You know what? Everything sucks now. Things were much nicer a few hundred years ago when all people had to worry about was world ending chunks of superluminal debris appearing out of nowhere, swarms of psychic carnivorous foliage eating everything/everyone in sight, and a crazy cult of space-pirates stealing everything not welding down or on fire, all while cutting off whole chunks of the galaxy as their own personal fiefdom! You hear they're talking about taxing the trade routes next? And have you seen what happened to the Jedis fashion sense?!"

So... the characters in this show who find out the Sith exist have to die, right? At the end, Rogue One style. or are they just going to be like "continuity shmontinuity"
It could be that the only people who find out are Jedi who end up turned to the Dark Side by the end.

We now appear to have something of an official synopsis: -

"In The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…."

So I think we already knew that Stenberg was playing a former padawan, though I can't recall if they ever specified that Lee was playing her former Master specifically (though it was pretty well inferred IIRC.)
So essentially nothing we didn't already know or could guess, but it's nice to get a more specific sense of the plot.

I doubt they'll get too deep into it (unless it specifically relates to the plot) but I'm interested to see if they explore what happens to those that wash-out as Jedi. Not every padawan gets knighted, not every Initiate passes their padawan trials. I think the lore has it that most of them essentially become the Order's support staff, but others just go out on their own like Ahsoka did. Curious to actually see how the Jedi at their supposed peak handled things like this.

I've been very curious about this, since it sounds like will be very different from the other series we've gotten so far, so I'm looking forward to finally seeing some footage tomorrow.

We have some key art and another new poster . . . plus this thing: -

For those that didn't see it through one means or another; this is actually not far off what was shown at Celebration. Indeed this feels like an expanded version of it; a lot of the same shots only expanded, same tone, I think the same-ish scoring, and of course this time around with actual plot dialogue and VFX.

Notes: -
So far so good. I'm certainly at least as interested as I was already, but it's still hard to say what the feel and focus of the show will be with just a teaser.

I have to admit that I was low-key hoping for the reveal of an 800-year-old Yoda at the end. He seems like a natural character to be involved in this story, given the era. I hate to sound like the people who kept whining for Luke to show up in the Ahsoka show, but his absence here seems almost seems conspicuous. Like an omission.

I really don't have that much else to say about the trailer, except that it definitely seems like a Star Wars project.

Definitely looks like Kashyykkk.

Like seeing the little city archway from Jakku. Nice touch.

Enjoyed the hand to hand combat. Definitely feel the Korean and Chinese stylings for some of the actors in the action. Always appreciate form zero in action, and the use of the Force to stop attacks.

And the "O" at the end makes me go "One Ring to Rule them All."

Color me sufficiently intrigued. Trailer did its job.

Just noticed in the official posting that they seem to have named Carrie-Anne Moss’ character as "Master Indara". Additionally the databank has some new entries: -
  • Indara - She knows kung-fu.
  • Kelnacca - Loner wookiee Jedi
  • Vernestra "Vern" Rwoh - For those that don't know, Vern is from the publishing side of things, being one of the flagship characters for the books aimed at the younger audience. Weird seeing her a century or more later.
  • Yord - The uptight by-the-book Jedi Knight (doomed to die?)
  • Jecki - Master Sol's Padawan Learner, who apparently is naturally chill. Reports of berserker rage and retractable adamantium claws are unconfirmed . . .
  • Sol - The Jedi Master with what sounds like a bit of a crisis of faith (likely in himself, given how Jedi are.)
  • Mae - The stabby one, who we already know is Sol's old apprentice (at least I think we know that? Am I imagining things?)
  • This one is interesting: "Mother Aniseya is the leader of a coven of Witches who value their independence and the preservation of their beliefs and powers." Star Wars seems to be on a witch kick of late. I approve. It could do with some solid headology.
  • Qimir - This is not the scoundrel you're looking for . . .

I think at this stage Yoda would just be a distraction. He's just one of ten thousand Jedi Knights after all; no reason he has to show up. For all we know he's not even currently on the council, but focusing on just teaching the Initiates for the last few decades.
Honestly; I'd get more of a kick out of Yaddle showing up, even if it's just a cameo.

I would love for this show to stand apart right until the very end, and then we see how it goes towards the Order seen more in the Prequels.

The uptight by-the-book Jedi Knight (doomed to die?)
Is he a mortal man?

That was a proper tease. Just enough to give us a small sense of what the overall feel of the series without any details. I was already curious about the series for the showrunner and cast alone, but I'm still waiting for the plot hook. I don't need much, just don't be derivative (within the realm of shows and films since I haven't read a single novel or comic book aside from Ahsoka).

That was.....fine. I'm intrigued in this show mostly due to the behind-the-scenes talent and the fact that it takes place in an untapped era of the franchise.

This didn't exactly make me champ at the bit, but it's serviceable and at least mildly interesting. Here's hoping it's a breath of fresh air (like Andor was) after the fan fic slush peddled by Favreau and Filoni.

I mean...what more can a trailer do?

"OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait.!!!"

I guess I'm old but those days are behind were I see a trailer and am immediately "all in." There's always a measure of reserve.

An interview with serious Creator Leslye Headland.

"Whatever you think The Acolyte is, it's not."

I love that she's an EU fan from way back who included some EU material because she thought it was cool and no one told her she couldn't.

It will probably go over my head, as I haven't engaged with any of that material for a very long time, but I'm sure there will be plenty of people in internet land who will notice it and be happy to point it out. :)
