Spoilers Supernatural Season 15--the final season

Wait what? Did LILLITH really just return from the dead? I know nobody on SPN ever really stays dead, but...we also just got a MAJOR retcon.

Okay so Lillith is apparently back and she is NOT like the other canon-fodder demons we've been dealing with these many years. (No surprise...but still, wow.) And...apparently Chuck rescued her from The Empty? Didn't we hear from The Shadow itself that Chuck didn't have power over The Empty?[/SPOILER]

So as it turns out, we have our arc for the season: "How the hell do we fight GOD?"

And this is the second week in a row that a seeming MotW episode turned out to be anything but. Season 14 tried this and failed (miserably), but if they continue to get it right this year, season 15 could well be the show's own redemption arc.

Very scary idea that God is personally out to get you, and any monster from the past can be resurrected to get you.

I can't WAIT to see more.

This has been a great season so far.

First off, the ghost pepper jerky. That scene was hilarious. Exactly why I will miss this show.

Werewolf brothers... and how that ended. That was unexpected.

And Lilith is back? I didn't think Chuck had any powers in the Empty. Unless he created that realm, too. That needs some explaining.

Dean's right... how do you fight god when he has it in for you? Clearly, the question that created the theme for this season is how some people "feel god has it in for me". Though, given what the boys have been through in their lives, it sure seems like he's always had it in for them.

Something occured to me... remember Kali back in season 5, "HAMMER OF THE GODS"? She was the only other godlike being who was able to hold her own against Lucifer. It was almost certainly because so many people in the world still believed in her... conversely, the pagan gods had almost zero followers, and were killed quickly by Lucifer. What if THAT is how they defeat Chuck? Find a way to get people to not believe in him. It would fit previous lore for other gods, and it brings up good questions about how our thoughts do shape the world.

I've got a new idea for how they might end the series... Sam and Dean start telling EVERYONE about monsters, demons, demigods. Everything. Including that he's just writing things, toying with everyone's lives. I'll bet enough people will be so pissed that they simply will stop believing in Chuck. Or at the very least, create so much doubt that it weakens Chuck to the point that maybe the boys CAN kill him. He HAS shown that he can be weakened, both in season 11 and with that gun.

Another possibility... Dean goes to Amara for help. Maybe she creates a new gun for them.

So much to look forward to this year. It looks like the series will go out on top... and with a bang.

Okay, so we had some thought-provoking turns in this one. For one thing, this is the second episode in a row with a monster who demonstrates self sacrifice for the sake of others-- I don't know if this one counts, since Lilith implied that it was orchestrated by Chuck as foreshadowing, but interesting nonetheless.

And Lilith is back with a brand-new body, implying that the proprietor of the Big Empty is involved in Chuck's plans somehow. That remains to be seen, I guess. But Lilith did succeed in her mission to destroy the Equalizer. I'm wondering if the boys had the foresight to bring that lump of metal back to the Bunker-- even melted, it may have magical properties that someone like Castiel could exploit (if he ever returns, which I'm sure he will).

Sam is still having visions, which seem to be rotating through all of the series finales that Chuck is contemplating, but thanks to Lilith's monologuing the boys realize that Sam's wound has connected him to Chuck, which has got to figure into the resolution somehow.

Dean is at a low point wondering what you do when God is out to get you, but they've seen God on the ropes before-- and if he was such a big threat, why is he sending Lilith to do his dirty work? It seems that he may be less of a threat than they think, and probably because of Sam's new connection to him.

And then there's always Amara, who is the one who had him on the ropes the last time.

First off, the ghost pepper jerky. That scene was hilarious. Exactly why I will miss this show.
That was a great scene. Sam was really enjoying Dean's pain. :rommie:

My thoughts are that it was Amara's dark influence that turned Chuck down this wicked path...how else can we explain his malicious change?

If that's the case why look to her for relief? She has already showed disdain for Chuck's cry for help, would any of us turn our back to a troubled siblings plea for help?

I'm not too keen on this season so far but it's been a very satisfying show over the years so I remain...all in.

It's not really a change. He's the Christian God-- sweet and loving one moment, vengeful and destructive the next.

As for Amara, they have that complicated sibling relationship. :rommie:

So, Amara, a singular entity equivalent only to Chuck, was captured by Chuck and the arch angels and trapped in a mark on Lucifer (a mark that slowly turned Lucifer crazy). Yet, arch angels aren't singular entities and instead exist in multiple universes and some universes also have Lucifer fighting Michael, which implies that other Lucifers were also turned crazy from a mark. I feel like we're (or I'm) still missing something here.

Yeah, I see no change in God's behaviour. He could have stopped Lucifer and Michael back in season 5 or at least saved Sam from an eternity of torture. Instead he gave just enough help (resurrecting Cas, teleporting Sam and Dean to that airplane, etc.) to keep the game going for his entertainment. This definitely wasn't planned way back then, but all the pieces fit so well.

I have to agree with that assessment. Chuck only came to their aid when it benefitted him, like in season 11, or to keep the 'story' going, like the first 5 seasons.

He's like Q in several ways, most notably doing things for his entertainment.

I hope we learn more about Chuck's family. Does he have parents? Did he have a brother that he murdered (hence the reason why he is obsessed with one Winchester brother killing the other)? Is there really only one Amara in the whole multiverse, and, if so, how does that fit with another universe being so similar to ours (including a battle between Lucifer and Michael)?

Now why couldn't we have had more shows like this the previous 14 seasons? This was a MotW episode that managed to be REALLY good. I loved having Eileen (sp?) back and they used her expertly.

The storyline with Cas was also terrific, after season 8 saw him try his hand at hunting it was fun to see him try it again with more experience. And it was also terrific to see him turn into Warrior!Cas again when he took on that Djinn, even if I was disappointed that he didn't smite it.

And the bit where he was barely able to heal the boy's ankle...it reminds me of season 5, where he could smite but couldn't heal, as he steadily lost his powers after being cut off from Heaven. Could this be the result of his grace starting to fade? Metatron did say it was "not a lot," after all.

Odd episode but lots of things were clearly set-up for things to come.

I LOVED that Eileen is back, but for how long? How is that so many good people are being sent to hell?

Also liked seeing alum from Dark Matter and Continuum (also SGU).

The actress who played the main witch was also in 2 previous episodes of the series.

And the youngest there was also a ghost all the way back in Season 1.

Im terrible with remembering names.

What the hell is up with Chuck? Anyone connected to the boys goes to hell? First Kevin, now Eileen? I still think there is a way to bring them all to heaven, because Bobby got to go.

I always liked Eileen. I'm very glad she got a happy ending. Or... does this just postpone her going back to hell, since her soul was there already? I still think there is a way, like how Naomi helped Bobby get up. A shame that was a one-time spell, though. Who knows... maybe Sam can figure out a way to make it work multiple times.

I liked Castiel's part in this episode. He learned the hunter lessons well. But this season, we are seeing a very angry angel. The way he killed Belphagor, and now the djinn. This is definitely the angriest angel. (A little SPACE: ABOVE AND BEYOND reference, for those who saw that show.) Though it is concerning, him losing powers like that.

This was another great episode in a season that has been knocking it out of the park so far. This series will be going out on top.

Holy Cow! An anti-death. Instead of a beloved character being killed off, a beloved character is actually resurrected. And in a unique way, that is apparently free of side effects. It's great having Eileen back, although she did make a pretty cool ghost-- she was really starting to get into her ghostly powers. :rommie: I wonder if she will be a regular now. I certainly would not object to her and Sam getting it on.

And Castiel seems to have ended his walkabout. It was interesting seeing him out on his own as a Solo Hunter. He has come a long way from his days as an inexplicably naive Angel. Although it was weird that he was able to take a bunch of bullets Superman-style but had a hard time healing the kid. He also wasn't able to heal Ketch. Something is up, but is it connected to the issues he's had with his Grace or maybe with the lights going out in Heaven?

I still think there is a way to bring them all to heaven, because Bobby got to go.
Yeah, I wondered where that came from. It didn't make any sense to me.

I have had this thought for months, almost all the way back to when they announced this was the last season. But I'm going to say it out loud here, so maybe it will happen.

I don't know how it will end, but there is one thing I hope they do for the final episode...

Take a page from the FARSCAPE series finale. In their "Previously On" at the beginning of "BAD TIMING", they used a single shot from EVERY SINGLE EPISODE before it. That's 87 shots.

For the final "THE ROAD SO FAR", they should do the same thing. 326 episodes, 326 shots. I can't think of a more appropriate or spot on "THE ROAD SO FAR" than that.

So far this episode is largely a snooze...Dean's story feels like a too-nostalgic callback to the early seasons. Or to the first part of season 10.

On the plus side, Eileen and Sam have some pretty interesting moments together, and...Cas is back! With an interesting theory on what they should do next.

"Can't just sit there lip-synching Eye of the Tiger when nobody's looking."
