Spoilers Supernatural Season 13

I was wondering why Castiel didn't try absorbing alt-Castiel's grace. Or would that be too weird for him? I suppose he's learned his lesson from powering-up with all the souls in Purgatory.

Also, the likelihood that alt-Castiel would end up in the same human body as our Castiel...but with a German accent...talk about a weird cosmic coincidence.

Because that would have undoubtedly given him back all his powers and his wings...and since it was technically "his" grace, it would've stayed that way. Their nerfing of the angels is about as subtle as a bulldozer now. I hope they get all these shenanigans out of the way for season 14 and we have everybody at their proper power levels. Trying to keep track of who's "at full power" and who isn't is beyond tiresome, especially since it seems to vary depending on the writer.

I'm shocked that Wayward Sisters wasn't picked up. Supernatural is such a big hit for the network that I figured the show would be a shoo-in.

Well, damn, that was a busy episode.

I was very disappointed to see Gabriel die, just as he was becoming a more interesting and likeable character. There's always the possibility of resurrection, I suppose, but that seemed very final. Of course, it once again raises the question of what happens to somebody from our world when they die in that world-- maybe that will give the writers a dodge to bring him back.

We got Alternate Bobbie and Alternate Charlie in the same episode! And Lucifer. I guess they're really blowing the budget on these last couple of episodes. :rommie:

It seems that Lucifer was starting to believe his own propaganda despite himself. He was genuinely trying to impress and win over Jack, and Gabriel's dressing down hit close to the bone-- for a minute there, he seemed to see himself as the insecure whiner that he really is. Unfortunately, I think Sam's last-minute betrayal will turn out to be a big mistake-- if he had brought him through, that might have been the moment that changed everything. Instead, we have Luci conspiring with Alternate Michael.

Alternate Cass cracked me up. "Ve haf vays of makink you talk." :rommie: Too bad he was killed off so quickly.

I've been wanting to see the MOL bunker fully manned again, but I didn't expect a full contingent from the other world. That was quite a scene. And Rowena really pulled her weight by keeping the rift open long enough for them to get back with just about everyone. She seems to be another reformed character, but I guess next week will tell the tale.

That is very disappointing. I thought it was a sure thing, and I was really looking forward to it.

I think I understand the business logic at work here. They have their one hit with SPN, and don't want to risk "overexposure" by having a second offering. It was a great pair of episodes, and unlike Bloodlines it seemed to fit well with the existing storyline, but my hunch is it would've been too similar to the existing show for their liking.

The CW also greenlit a spinoff of the Originals (which is itself a spinoff of Vampire Diaries) and a reboot of Charmed which are both pretty similar to Wayward Sisters. The CW probably sees more potential in those shows than in a Supernatural spinoff without Sam, Dean, Castiel, or Bobby. And, to be fair, the Wayward Sisters backdoor pilot really wasn't that good, so it's hard to argue with their logic. I'm disappointed because I love Jody and Donna, but Supernatural can always give those two more guest appearances next season.

This sucks. I guess the show is now 0 and 2 on creating spin-offs. Perhaps they will have more luck when they feel the main show is close to ending and they will want to continue the universe in another show. Maybe a men of Letters show or a show about Castiel.

It's hard to create public pressure for a spin-off when the original show looks like it will continue going until the end of time...or at least until Jensen Ackles dies of old age.

Which might not never happen. The boys look like they have been in their 20's for the entire run! In fact I don't think anyone has really aged on the show. Only exception is Jimmy's daughter who went from child to teen and i'm not even sure if it's even the same actress who has grown up.

Well, they have the "Arrowverse."

That probably explains it. Too bad, because it seems to me that a spinoff of an existing show, with the possibilities for crossovers, seems like a better bet to me.

Agreed. They can make such episodes as "event episodes", plus they can easily pair them up on the same night.

Can't they do that with "The Originals?" Granted I never watched the show but if it was a spin-off from another popular show they had so that would in theory be the same thing as another connected universe show to "Supernatural."

Jason

That would be hilarious. That sounds like how a MAD magazine parody of Vampire Diaries would end: The Winchester Brothers wipe out the Salvatore Brothers. :rommie:
