Spoilers Supernatural Season 13

New episode tonight!

That was terrible. They were trying WAY too hard to be a film-noir detective story; it's like they even forgot this was Supernatural. It wasn't just filler--it was boring filler, saying "Look, it's like the 40s!" in every shot. I see Amanda Tapping directed this one--not her best work. There is indeed such a thing as a show being "overdirected."

I haven't been watching Supernatural for a while but I want to see the Scooby episode. Can't help it, I grew up with it.

Once he revealed he was a priest, I figured he would be the 'most holy man'.

Best line, again, goes to Dean. His description of what would happen if someone stole Baby... we expect nothing less from him.

Overall, it was an okay episode. A filler one, to be honest. I applaud them for trying a new noir style of episode, directed by Amanda Tapping.

I know Supernatural is the last place you'd go for realism, but the mob felt like what Dean thinks the mob is like through movies and TV shows.

I liked the Film Noir homage (especially the little touches of using names like Astor and Greenstreet), but then I love the artistry of vintage works. I would have preferred if there were some in-story reason for it, like there was with that black-and-white Universal tribute a few years ago, but that's not a big deal.

Like any good noir film, there were a lot of double and triple crosses, and the requisite red herrings. The priest was a good character and it would be nice to see him pop up again at some point. I got a kick out of him telling the goon that he was causing a distraction because lying is a sin.

I also got a kick out of Dean's reaction to the thought of someone stealing Baby. "Murder them. Torture them first." And he just zoned out. :rommie:

And next week: Scooby-Doo at last!

Ah, "Monster Movie"... one of my favorite episodes. "Re-hymenated." (A few years ago... that was in early season 4. NINE years ago. lol)

And "SCOOBYNATURAL" won't be on next week... we have to wait until March 29, 3 weeks. Ugh.

*sigh* Another repeat. Well, it's only one more week until the Scooby-Doo episode. That will be either hilarious as all get-out or just plain horrible. We shall see.... :shifty:

Any way, while I wait, I can spend the time watching re-runs on TNT every morning.

I'm hoping the Scooby episode leads to an ongoing series. Now that would be a great Supernatural spin-off. :rommie:
