Supernatural: Season 10 (Spoilers!)

Cas getting his grace back was momentous and the scene in the library was wonderfully done.

"What's the maddest thing a man can do? Let himself die."

EPIC.

It's interesting to me that even though Cas did get his original grace back, restoring him to full power, his wings are still shown as broken--even though Metatron removed his grace prior to casting the spell.

At least this shows the writers haven't forgotten about Metatron's spell. A risk of multi-seasonal arcs--like angels not having wings, and thus not being able to teleport--is that they'll try to retcon the new circumstances as the new permanent status quo. In this case that would mean "Oh, angels having to use the playground sandbox to come and go without wings is just how it is now."

I know there's probably precious little chance that they'll address that before the season ends, since the main storyline seems to be the Mark of Cain. If not, I hope they tackle this next season.

As for Metatron and the Demon Tablet? Part of me can't help but suspect he's planning to use it to somehow open Lucifer's cage. Given everything he said about angels being "family" this week, and the finale being titled "My Brother's Keeper," it seems like the most plausible explanation.

Thoughts?

Maybe poor Adam will finally be freed.

They did mention him, apropos nothing, in the 200th episode. Perhaps that was a bit of foreshadowing?

Also, tnpir4002, excellent points on the angel wings. When I first saw broken shadows, it took me a second to register why they looked like that, with season 8's finale coming to mind.

The title for this season's finale, "My Brother's Keeper," may refer to Adam, but I'm predicting that to remove the Mark of Cain, Dean will have to recreate the event that led to the Mark's creation: brother killing brother. They may go with the killing Adam route (if he gets released) but killing Sam would be much more dramatic and powerful.

This past episode I really liked, any episode with Charlie is awesome. I was happy to see Cas finally get his grace back, he's been my favorite character since season 4. But, I knew bad things were to come since everyone was somewhat happy at the end and then boom Rowena. I know the last episodes in the season are gonna be a roller coaster.

Maybe the triple reverse? Saving his brother from his brother trying to murder his brother by sacrificing himself for his brother to his brother,...if you get my meaning.;)

Well, he's not bad for comic relief, but yeah, it's time for him to go.

Preferably in a very painful manner.

I think I get your meaning, but reading your post made me think of Robert Downey Jr.'s bit in Tropic Thunder.

He's a character you love to hate...and love to see punched. Repeatedly.

Is Styne blind? In the opening, Charlie escapes through the fence and goes left, then Styne comes to the fence and yells in the wrong direction. So dumb. No wonder he got shivved.

I enjoyed Cas and Metatron's buddy moment in the car.
"Creepy ... and yet ... arousing."

Dean sits Sam down and tells him "the story so far" - Rowena is Crowley's mother? No way!

Charlie had to sew up her own wound - why did the boys not check her work?

The boys have never been to a beach. I don't think there are any beaches in SPN land.

"Sorry about the mess. I guess I'm lactose intolerant."
"Let's never speak of it again."

"Nobody goes to libraries anymore. It's the safest place in the world."
I did not pick up the literary references in the Library - one for the freeze-frame later.
How the hell did Cas find his grace?

"This is my cross to bear, Sam." Ooh, a religious reference!

This ep was enjoyable, but really fell down at the end with the awkward reunion scene, and terrible montage music. And how the hell did Sam find Rowena?

I really hope that they kill off Metatron this season. I'm so sick of him I'm almost puking when he comes on screen.

I agree 100%, the character needs to be put to an end. I was never a fan of Metatron even from the begining when nobody knew of his true nature(Alan Rickman's Metatron on the other hand <3). I tire of his face and his antics.

How the hell did Cas find his grace?

It seemed to be thanks to his literature-dump from Metatron back in season 9. Best I can tell, both of the clues that Metatron left were quotes, apparently both from Don Quixote (the book that was concealing Cas' grace). It looks like he just put two and two together.

At the risk of repeating myself...

Heard you the first time, but discounted it. Whatever it is they did before, they still can't do it, and they haven't been able to do it since season 8's finale. Whatever you call it, it's an ability that's been missing.

*In dialogue, by the way, Cas actually said it once (in the Looney Toons episode, he specifically said "I could teleport and..."). I therefore choose to call it teleportation.

Find me the specific episode whose audio commentary says what you describe, and we'll talk.

Re teleporting, sorry, I don't remember which commentary it was. It's possible the writers forgot or just decided teleportation was easier to talk about. Supernatural.wiki has a page on teleportation, but the page is so badly written I don't think it can be taken as an authority on anything.

Yes, it looked to me as though Cas was supposed to find his grace thanks to Metatron's clues. Problem is, I thought those clues were so Metatron could find the demon tablet. How stupid, and yet totally convenient, that these two items were stored in the same location.

ANYWAY.....

I liked tonight's episode; it was sufficiently creepy. The beginning was awesome, but...stupid Sam, he got that poor woman killed!

I liked seeing Benny--er, notBenny--even for a little while. I also liked the throwback to Magnus and the Men of Letters.

So, things are moving now. I'm liking this.

Yeah, we're picking up steam in this final stretch of episodes.

Benny was a cool appearance, as was Kavan Smith's creepy collector character.

Was that Jimmy's daughter in the previews for next week's episode?

Not terribly fond here, either. Oh well. Maybe she'll do something incredibly redeeming in the upcoming episode and I'll change my mind.

*snort*

Ssshyeah.

Kevin is about the only teen character they've done on this show that I haven't wanted to throw sharp objects at. This archetype is getting tiresome. It's possible for a kid to be screwed up and not end up as the same boring meme (or as an asshole).

Or maybe it's the actor. Her inflections and movements seem to mime that moribund schtick quite repetitively. Haven't seen her in anything else, so idk. And I'm not saying there aren't teens like Claire (of course there are), but that there are a whole lot of other types out there and that it's deflating to see writers always fall back on this trope.

As an aside, I find it funny that this lazy stereotype is almost absent from most smart shows actually written for teens. It seems to be the go-to for adult shows needing an "angsty teen". Also funny that SN gets some of its best performances from teens not playing actual teens (possessed, switched bodies, young Dean, etc.)

For those that like to watch a new episode without any foreknowledge, I'll spoiler-code this.

Charlie's back for the third time this season! I think this may be unprecedented -- I believe she appeared in two episodes of season eight and one each of seasons seven and nine.

Hopefully, this means Robbie Thompson will be the writer for this episode, thus continuing his reign as exclusive Charlie scribe and giving us a great story as well.:)
