Supernatural: Season 10 (Spoilers!)

Just watched the recent episode. I thought it was ... okay.
I liked the horror aspects, especially in the second half when Dean is reliving limbo while Rowena is helping Sam to bleed out.
I thought it was interesting that they didn't make a big deal about Dean not seeing Rowena, trusting the audience to presume it's magic.

Nitpicks: The older woman trying to convince Sam to kill himself was not very convincing, and really there was no good reason for Sam to shrug off the hex so easily, except lazy writing.
The amount of blood in that bowl was not enough for Sam to be in any serious medical danger.
I still can't let go that Sam's contact with Rowena hasn't been explained. I mean, I can think of ways it could have happened, but if Sam did some dark magic to locate her, that's something I want to see. And where is this location where Sam is sure no-one will find Rowena and release her?

That wasn't Rowena. It was the curse tricking Sam into committing suicide.

Maybe the bowl was eating the blood, so it never got so full no matter how much you bleed into it?

Yeah, I thought the bowl was feeding the blood, as it pooled, into the Werther box, so we never saw how much blood he actually lost.

I enjoyed the last episode. Seeing Charlie again was a blast obviously.
I got a big kick out of Metatron and Chas. I don't mind Metatron, but I wouldn't be upset if they killed him off once and for all. I'm really glad that Cas finally got his grace back.
I enjoyed the stuff with the spell from the safe.
I'm glad they are working Rowena into the Mark of Caine storyline.
I didn't think Sam saved the book, but I wasn't surprised when it turned out he did.

Me, too. I still don't really care about her, but this episode made me dislike her slightly less.

Murderous angels, now. Dean was right; angels are dicks.

I liked seeing Jimmy and his wife finally together in heaven; it was sweet, in a way.

Supernatural spin off:
Jody Mills - a small town cop turned hunter raising four daughters
Annie (From: Alex Annie Alexis Ann)- Raised by Vampires and obsessed with their destruction
Tina - (From: About a Boy)Having a tough time with her second chance and stuck in her hometown with ex husbands and friends.
Claire Novak - Learning to fight and fend for herself, has a habit of going solo.
Krissy (From: Freaks and Geeks) - The most experienced of the group when it comes to hunting, feels like an outsider.

Absolutely not inspired by the forthcoming all female Ghostbusters film.

Well, I guess this episode is confirmation that souls are finding their way into heaven (unless the angels just made an exception for Novak). I assume angels are giving reapers access to the heaven's back-door.

Good god. Can we have ONE recurring character that doesn't get horribly murdered? Would it really have killed them to give Jimmy's wife and daughter a happy ending?

If you anticipate ANYONE getting a happy ending on this show, you have clearly not been paying attention.

OK, just kidding--sort of. It would be nice if we saw the occasional "Everybody Lives!" ending, just to shake things up a little.

I think that WAS their version of a happy ending with the reunion between Jimmy and his wife, while Claire at least got some closure... sort of.

Since Death is supposed to have power almost equivalent to God, I would be more surprised if the reapers weren't able to send souls to heaven.

Except remember season 9, Tessa was as powerless to zap around as all the [other?] angels. And also in season 9, we had Kevin claiming that with Heaven's gates closed, no souls could get there and were stuck in the Veil.

Now, in this episode, we have:
1) Tamiel, an angel of some kind, seemingly zapping around (he appeared right behind the shady guy at the bar)
2) Souls, at least Amelia's, suddenly getting into Heaven, with seemingly very little lost time

Considering Cas' wings were shown as still broken week before last, it's enough to make you wonder.

Tamiel had been on Earth since the dawn of man so did not fall and lose his wings. He was also sucking humans grace dry so that probably allowed him to keep his powers. Although we did not hear the wing flapping effect when he appeared so he may travel another way.

Yeah, apparently the Grigori were an elite squad of "super-angels" so it makes sense he'd have some unique powers, and never had fallen.

Good stuff otherwise, I'd be happy to see Claire again at this point. Jodi's getting quite a collection of Potenti.... err, Could-Be-Hunters, isn't she?

That still ticks me off. F*&% that nonsense, reapers are not angels, they don't get caught up in all that. It's no accident Death hasn't appeared in a long time, because you basically have to ignore everything established about him and the reapers.

That's a shame - I really liked Death. It would be cool to see a season where the Winchesters feud with Death.

I watched the recent episode. I liked the part where it switched between Dean and Claire, and Sam and Cas. Dean telling Claire her father didn't sacrifice himself for nothing was a very nice moment. It looks like they are setting up Claire as another hunter - hope they don't kill her off. If they are really trying to convey "Dean could blow at any moment!", they are falling short. But it looks like they have saved this season from being a total waste - provided the finale doesn't suck.

^That would be a short episode.

You know, if Supernatural was actually a popular show, I wonder if there would be articles written about how they treat their female characters over the long term.

Maybe they have some sort of quota in place. Claire is in, so Charlie's out. :(
