I get this feeling that Una and Ortegas will go off to another ship. I think that La’an’s character background leads to a different fate. I wonder if her time travel adventure in “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” will lead to her playing a part in it. Or ya know, the whole relation to Khan thing doing something. Who knows though?

I think Una will go teach at Starfleet Academy or leave Starfleet to get into politics and fight for rights of those genetically engineered. Either way we do need a reason why she was passed over for command of the Enterprise when they gave it to Kirk.

Starships are not a hereditary dynasty, the xo doesn't automatically get bumped up to co of their ship if the chair is vacated. So choosing someone else isn't really Una getting passed over for command.

Just as easily could be assigned to a smaller ship as her command, or an instructor.
