Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Season 3 ratings appear to have tanked after "Space Adventure Hour" dropping them out of the streaming top ten and tbh, I don't blame them. That one was terrible.

Gee.. I guess that means no season 6.. oh wait.
;)
(Doesn't really matter at this point does it since we know the series is done after season 5 which is currently filming. Of note the only other Paramount Plus show that made the streaming top 10 was NCIS.)

Mendez: You ever met Chris Pike? About your age...

Kirk: Not only did I meet him so often when I was on his Enterprise practically every other week, but do you even read the Starfleet Academy website? Because (pulls out PADD) it says that Pike's the class of 2227 and I'm the class of 2254. That is not anywhere close to being about my age.

Yeah that's on TOS. Pike is obviously around Kirk's current age (circa 2266) in the flashback sequences of TOS S1 The Menagerie (circa 2253).

The line about ages didn't make sense when it aired.

Where did the notion of "Kirk is the youngest man ever to make captain" come from? The writer's guide? Something actually in TOS? Or just fan lore after the fact?

Hunter was five years older than Shatner.

BTW, came across this...

That makes Mount some fairly inspired casting doesn't it?

Yep. Thought so when he beamed aboard Discovery.

Seems like an oddly generic first look to me. If someone said, "Post a scene that is in every Star Trek ever..."

Still, considering our first look at season three was from Four and a Half Vulcans, I'll take it!!
Edit: I forgot that technically our first look at season four was from the puppet episode, so season four is possibly on par with three.

I quite enjoyed it. Very well made and paced.
Vulcan cadet. Fascinating.

heres a theory lol what if star trek strange new worlds is set in another alternate universe since half of captain james tiberius kirks crew members from the original verison like scotty spock nurse chapel and urula are part of pikes crew on strange new worlds and since strange new worlds will do the 5 year mission then that means that the crew members who joined captain tiberius kirk in the original series will not do the 5 year missions after the strange new world is done since there is most likely no spinoff show via sequel after strange new world

The spinny bits were actually making me a little dizzy but I liked it. Almost reminded me of the Gilligan’s Island intro when they got caught up in the storm. Their “warp field” bubble is the island they got stranded on…

Just saw the NYCC clip. That is so much better than the first look we got last year and I would say it's better than a lot of season 3. I'm actually intrigued and glad Una is going on the mission. I want more Una next year.

I'm trying to figure out which TOS EP the clip was from. I was thinking Galactic Barrier at the middle, but naw, the Hunt for Iridium ending looks like The Galileo Seven to me.

Gee, I wonder which crew die...
