Not really. I would rather the show be a bit more serious. Lower Decks is the comedic show.
Nah. I like that SNW is serious and funny. Like TOS was.
I don’t mind funny moments. It just needs to make sense.
Every Star Trek show has at least one comedic episode a season.
"A Night in Sickbay(ENT)" might be moldy cheese on a stick, but it's definitely a comedy.

I don't mind it not making sense. It's Star Trek. It's aliens and it's humans living 150-1,150 years into the future. The jokes and comedy not always landing in an explicable fashion is the least of my worries, so long as I'm entertained.

Honestly, I think it's gonna be a regular thing that we have a "Vulcan Hijinks" episode every season which I'm not terribly upset about, but I don't think showing off the new season with scenes exclusively from that episode was the best approach either. We last left off on a pretty dramatic cliffhanger (at least that's what they're going for, mileage may vary), one would think it more effective to use that to tease the new season. They did use a somewhat comedic scene with Erica to tease Season 2, so fair enough I suppose (but I likewise have quibbles with that clip if because it led people to believe Erica would have an episode focused on her when it was a B plot at best).
That said, I'm pretty sure the show is not gonna become a "comedic" show, it's a varied show in a similar vein to past Trek series (if perhaps a bit more pronounced and leaned into). No need to panic just yet.

What does MASH have to do with anything?
"It was always bad" isn't a good argument for why this isn't bad. Especially as Star Trek comedy has made plenty of sense in the past and has also been good.
If it hadn't been for the DVD releases of TOS, my main memory of that series would've largely been the Sunday morning repeats in the 90s. I could swear blind that every episode ended with the crew gathered around the Captain's chair laughing at how stupid Spock was.
That's true but it's usually lots of fun to watch.
That is the point of head canon. We fans can now spend years even decades trying to find ways to make it make sense. I am already calculating the number of tech reasons why Pike's hair would change like it did with getting that shot.
It's no longer Pike's Peak, it's Mount Seleya.
