Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

It may just become the next big haircut trend for men.
Those are a thing?
Actually, yes. Or at least among teenagers. I was a teenager when Leonardo DiCaprio's popularity skyrocketed because of Titanic, a lot of guys at school had their hair done exactly like his. Likewise, I noticed many teenage guys with a similar hairstyle to Justin Bieber's back during the height of his popularity about a decade or so ago.
I've had the same haircut for 25 years.
Likewise. I started getting buzz cuts when I was six and continued to do so until my early twenties when I just started shaving my head completely bald.

I work with teens. This is not a thing they discuss.

Yeah, and my friends cared little about their hair. So, again, my pop culture awareness might be thin but I guess hair doesn't matter to me.

Damn it, I already used my joke. I'll just quote myself:

It's hair.

Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Look at the Beatles. Soon after their debut, boys were growing out their hair and combing it forward. Bands that had been sporting crewcuts and ducktails changed their looks.

Are you a parent of a teen, or one about to enter teenagerdom?
I am a parent of two teens, work at a high school as a mental health counselor, learn very intimate secrets and and struggles and pain, as well as slang I don't know, current fashion trends, video games, and such. Building trust is foundational in my work.

Male hair has not come up in the last two years. Maybe this year.

Then you should know better.

And there you go again with the "mental health" professional drum-banging. We discussed this before, remember? Maybe it's time for another one of those self-introspection sessions.

That male hair is a common discussion topic?

You asked if I worked with teens. I do. That's my answer. Not sure the issue here though.

Because you ALSO once again planted that old "I'm a mental health counselor" flag in an effort to shore up your bona-fide's on how to deal with teens (as you have on many other topics in the past), until I've called you out on it, only to have you roll it back, responding, and I quote, "I'm not really a therapist, remember?" if that's true, then then stop acting like one and putting it forward as a shield to defend your position. Are you or aren't you?

And if you are a father of two teens, you should still know better that they are keeping things from you, no matter how serious or innocuous the subject matter may be. Any parent who thinks that a false statement is lying to themselves and anyone else to whom they try to convince otherwise.

In case you haven't noticed, I may have just saved your relationship between you and your kids.

Your welcome.

Dude, I don't know your issue with me but I simply commented on male hair trends. Not teens lying, not parenting advice, nor anything but my experience working with teens and not hearing about hair on males.

There was nothing on how to deal with teens. Just hair.

Mmm... and the rollback begins yet again. Rinse and repeat...
I reread my comment. It was about hair.

What rollback? What issue?

Sorry I offended you but I was talking about working with teens and them not talking about male hair. I hear about a lot of things and male hair hasn't come up.

And apparently this is a trust issue?

:sigh:
