They met everyone and the kitchen sink in Greg's books. From Steve Austin to Jonny Quest.Heh, in Greg Cox and Dayton Ward's pre-streaming era novels, Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln meet Guinan, Flint, Shannon O'Donnell, Rain Robinson, and ultimately Mestral succeeds Gary Seven's position on Earth.
It's an homage to Shades of Grey. Why is Chapel in monochrome in the promotional poster, but the rest of them are in full-colour?
I am getting the impression that Carol Kane's alien species is suppose to be what explains Mr Flint's long lifespan in "Requiem for Methuselah." They might even go all meta and say she once went by the name of Carol Kane on earth. Could it be she is Spock's grandma or great grandma. This would explain how she knows Spock's mom.
Her species is an offshoot species of human, there are historically multiple seperate species of humans, some very different from us, like homo erectus. Her people could be one of the next branches of human evolution.
Sadly, probably not. Look at quickly Kane's character must be pigeonholed as a TOS species or so related.Doing that might even be a hit with the fans.
Good.Akiva Goldsman: Because for me, storytelling beats canon.
That said, this is the guy who wrote the screenplay for Batman and Robin and he thought that was a good story... Admittedly, that was 25 years ago.Good.
Akiva Goldsman: Because for me, storytelling beats canon. And that may not be popular, but it’s the truth. So when they can go hand-in-hand, great. But when I was writing the pilot, I was looking for something that was just monstrous, that was Cthulhu-like. Something that was unthinking. Our shows are empathy generators and I wanted to have an element which was in relief of that. I wanted something that you couldn’t identify with, something that was utterly alien, something that was all appetite and instinct in ways that we couldn’t quite understand. And I also wanted to signal place and time in a way that personally I found interesting. So you should definitely blame me for this one.

Akiva Goldsman is going to areas no Star Trek showrunner has ever considered before... what if the villains were mindless monsters with nothing else to them.
Can't lie if Star Trek doing mindless monsters was something Goldsman was interested in it does sound like the type of idea with one episode of material in rather than being the main villains of a multi-season show. It hasn't been a big enough part of the show yet to become a bother but yeah, it's
definitely something I'm remaining cautious of.
I guess the benefit of this being an episodic show is that it'll at least only be a big part of a couple episodes per season so if I do really hate it then there is at least the rest of the episodes in a season I can look forward to.
and it doesn't acknowledge how hard everyone worked to make that makeup design functional onscreen.
