But what about baby Kirk in the opening scene of Star Trek 2009; and 12 year old Kirk jumping out of the Corvette in the same film?
Nope. Open to the elements. Gonna need a new paint job too,They make car covers that size?
You really thought the show that recast EVERYONE and reimagined EVERYTHING would have done a CG Shatner at any point? There's "returning to its roots" and "using the same old, tired, roots." There's plenty of roots to return to without reusing old ones (aside from Spock) with the Pike era. Why play the Kirk Card so soon? Kirk should be the last thing we see in the series and even then I'd say he's silent and we only see him from behind, probably only done with some kind of CGI creation/manipulation so that there's no doubt it's Shatner.
But, sure. Burn that card in S2 with Vampire Diaries guy.
CG Zombie Kirk sounds like a terrible idea. You really thought the show that recast EVERYONE and reimagined EVERYTHING would have done a CG Shatner at any point?

Eh, it's getting better but I'm still not sold. Maybe the next pass at Luke will convince me.Star Wars: We have such a knowledge of CGI, we can keep the nostalgia you care about from dying! We have the power to save the nostalgia you love. You must choose!
Star Trek: Don't listen to them!
He's a genre name because he had a long stint on one long running TV series - "The Vampire Diaries".

It's only noticeable to people who know Mark Hamill is currently 70 years old. Someone I watched Boba Fett with who's relatively new to Star Wars (and doesn't know about the production timeframes and all that) had no idea anything was wrong with Luke.Eh, it's getting better but I'm still not sold. Maybe the next pass at Luke will convince me.
Disney hasn't done anything legally or morally dubious about CGI Luke, Mark Hamill was fully onboard. Legally they're in the clear with CGI Tarkin, and as far as morally well they did get Cushing's estate's approval.
It doesn't fly with me thus far. It strikes me as being very disquieting.Eh, it's getting better but I'm still not sold. Maybe the next pass at Luke will convince me.

I 100% agree with you. I'd never heard of this guy before either. And it should also be noted that, if someone didn't watch The Vampire Diaries, the someone probably have never heard of him. I'm one of those someones. Let's face it -- CW shows aren't really world-class talent factories.
So many Trip good ole boy jokes I could tell right now. But you gotta keep yer shirt on.
And that's...bad?
There's no difference in the outcome. If your fans are squeeing over a well written show? Sure. Squeeing over memberberries? Not so much.
