Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

The uniforms look good at least.

There is no reward for originality now. Fandom has demanded Trek return to its roots and here we are. This is the interpretation.

Whelp, Kelvin Trek is my last hope.

There's "returning to its roots" and "using the same old, tired, roots." There's plenty of roots to return to without reusing old ones (aside from Spock) with the Pike era. Why play the Kirk Card so soon? Kirk should be the last thing we see in the series and even then I'd say he's silent and we only see him from behind, probably only done with some kind of CGI creation/manipulation so that there's no doubt it's Shatner.

But, sure. Burn that card in S2 with Vampire Diaries guy.

That's not how Hollywood works.

Haha anyone else getting 'Eccelston quits and Tennant is announced before Doctor Who even airs" vibes? In all honesty I don't care. Kirk feels inevitable whether it's as captain or leading up to it.

That could be the Farragut's ship badge on his uniform shirt. Remember that ENT confirmed that each Constitution-class starship has its own insignia design. If Kirk is still on the Farragut after the Tycho IV disaster of 2257 then that could be what theirs looks like.

‪‪I feel like this is having the opposite effect for me, and maybe many of us, than Paramount want/expect me/us to have.

I’m not too fussed with the casting, Wesley’s a good enough actor, and the age difference isn’t too ridiculous looking at standard Hollywood casting practices. I’m sure I’ll enjoy his Kirk somewhat, but ‪‪I don’t really want him in this series at all, and certainly not as early as season 2.

That being said, I’m going to try to go into it with an open mind, and remember that canon and continuity have never been immutable, and have bent to the whims of the story from the beginning of not just all Trek, but all fiction, and hope that ‪‪I enjoy it.

That was a retcon of its own. The Defiant crew in "The Tholian Web" were wearing arrowhead badges.

Maybe they have some sort of filter on the image, but the console and hand rail appear to be brown instead of red. Which might indicate this isn't the Enterprise.
