Clearly Spock didn't care about his own pon farr cycle since he was involved with Leila Kalomi in 2261 and that was two or more years after the upcoming appearance of T'Pring in SNW. Spock rolls as he gets opportunities.

That's the only way to interpret it. There is no need for "as father and son" otherwise. It also allows for some humorous situations. "Please pass the salt Ambassador Sarek".
I have always been a little confused about how "the Vulcan way" causes Spock and Sarek's disagreement about him joining Starfleet to become a decision to keep their relationship formal.
That looks pretty great!
I like a lot of what I'm seeing. I really dig that "retro-futurism" aesthetic.
What will make or break this show though will be the stories. The other shows had the problem of bad season arcs - always felt like a mediocre 2-hour plot stretched out over 13 hours.
If they can manage to tell a satisfying story within 50 minutes every week - this his the potential to be really, really good!
I really look forward to this show.

I thought someone might mention that. We can't assume the accelerated maturation on the Genesis Planet matches what happened originally. Note that new Spock only has that one pon farr, he doesn't have one when he was older like original Spock.

Yup. I watched it a little with my niece years ago, It wasn’t bad at first, melodramatic, but fun at least.
I think it suffered from one of the same issues that many genre shows pitched to a younger audience end up having, it just kept going on, and its characters, relationships and storylines would be built up, then reversed/undone, ad nauseum.
It was successful enough for The CW that it’s had two spin offs, one still going currently, and it has a fairly sizable following still. Could be a good draw to bring in some younger viewers who might not have watched otherwise, as @KirkusOveractus intimated.

Kirk's also not a Captain until around 2264 so this would be way too early for James Kirk to have a rank that high.
He could still be a Captain. April is greying by 2270 as seen in TAS but ten or eleven years can make all the difference in one's hair color. But my guess is he's too young to be Robert April unless they have a really good explanation for a man in his fifties or sixties by the time of SNW still looking like he's thirtysomething.
I didn't see any rank on the cuffs. A different actor playing a younger Lt. Pike... say, in 2245 aboard when the Enterprise is first launched?
